Skoda Octavia New Review L&K 2.0 TSI (2021)- Best D-Segment Sedan!

Do you love sedans? The Honda City, 3 Series, 340i or Mercedes-Benz A-Class – which is your favorite? Skoda is competing in the Indian market for the last 20 years. The newest is the 4th generation Octavia! The new-generation tech, leading performance and a well-designed cabin make the Skoda Octavia the best D-Segment sedan! Read our review to get a complete idea of Skoda Octavia L&K 2.0!

Skoda Octavia Design and Style – Exterior

    Skoda Octavia New Review L&K

The new Octavia is bigger than its predecessors. The conventional and elegant design draws you towards it. The fascia has bi-LED headlamps and the sharp-looking LED fog lamps which work well. They auto-level or turn with the steering to facilitate a good cornering visibility. The large glasshouse gives excellent visibility of the outside world. The car drives on lower ground clearance but it will not affect you unless you have to drive off road. The other drawback is the 8 mm shorter wheelbase. But the new Octavia has grown longer, wider and taller than before.

The Octavia does have some features like the Audi A3 such as the platform and certain components. The perfect paint finishes, subtle chrome and sophisticated lines and classy wheel choices, all together give the Octavia a premium graceful look. There is a subtle C-motif at the taillights with the same bohemian crystal work theme as before. There is spilt taillight design and spaced Skoda lettering on the boot lid which give a wider and longer look to it.

2021 Skoda Octavia L&K 2.0 TSI Interiors, Features

The interior design is simple and minimalistic. The black and beige of Skoda has been replaced by black and grey theme which looks elegant and neat. There is a single line of switches below the infotainment and an electric-shaver-like gear selector gives a cleaner tunnel console appearance.

The easily usable virtual cockpit digital instrumentation and 10-inch infotainment screen are the plus points. VW’s new MIB3 based architecture has fast processing power. The complex graphics and animations for menus and infotainment functions are appreciable. Remarkably, the vehicle settings menu displays pictorial view of the car on which you can touch the different parts like the lights, windows, and boot with the help of which and you can fine-tune their settings.

There is one problem with the infotainment. The A/C controls, as a component of the infotainment needs you to perform multiple steps. For instance, if you would like to change the fan speed, you should look at the panel, taking your eyes off the road which is a dangerous act. We wish there would have been an automatic climate control system. The cooling efficiency of the air filtration system is good but the central A/C vents are placed at the low side and hence the cooling effect is only for the lower body and the arms but you would not get a bit of it to your face which is not a desirable aspect. Handy A/C presets are available for functions like defogging the widows and cooling your feet which is a good feature.

The car’s infotainment system has wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Mirror Link and a high-grade 12-speaker Canton audio unit in the L & K. There are multiple themes for the infotainment and instrumentation.

The seats are large and comfortable. The ventilation function is not satisfactory. Both front seats are powered and rear seats are also comfortable with bucket-seat like contouring which would make your long-distance travels easier. There is enough shoulder room and knee room for 2 adults and a kid. Low-set window line and retractable window blinds are available. The sunroof is missing.

There are dual seatback pockets and 2 roof lights at the rear. Two USB-C ports are available below the rear AC vents. Doors have large bottle holders and the front door can accommodate many other things other than the back doors. The boot space has a cargo capacity of 600-litres and cavernous 1555-litres with folded rear seats.

Engine Specifications, Performance And Driving Dynamics

2021 Skoda Octavia L&K has the familiar 2.0l TSI petrol from Superb/A4/Q2. This delivers 190 PS and 320 Nm from 10 PS and 70 Nm of the 1.8 TSI on the older Octavia. The transmission has also changed. The previous version had dry-clutch DQ200 7 speed DSG but the new one has a wet-clutch DQ381unit and shift-by-wire technology. The engine is refined and no vibrations can be felt. The engine has redlining at 6000 RPM. The TSI mill is fine for city and highway speeds.

The 7-speed gearbox is a good match to this engine. The new Octavia does not have various drive modes. There is only the S mode on the gearbox that holds revs at each gear. Nothing can be done for the suspension or steering.

    Skoda Octavia Driving Experience

The car heads fast whey you step on the throttle. The sedan has a decent low-end response and there is a mild lag before the mid-range where you would really appreciate the TSI’s performance. The acceleration is good at the mid-range and top-end of the RPM band. The vehicle is soft with the suspension setup and so you get a comfortable ride even when you have to drive on potholes and undulations. It is planted at high speeds and there are no shakes. You can feel some body roll at the corners. The steering could have been more functional with respect to communication. The disc brakes and stopping power are good.

    Safety And Service

Skoda’s after-sales service is not the best in the country but the complaints have become very less. The 2021 Skoda Octavia has safety features such as eight airbags, ESC, ABS, Multi Collision Brake, Hydraulic Brake Assist, Hill Hold Control, ASR, TPMS and Electronic Differential Lock. TPMS is only for L&K, but others are offered on both variants.

    Verdict

The Skoda Octavia has become bigger, more comfortable and more technically upgraded now. The bigger engine has higher amount of torque. It has a high quality cabin with a lot of space. It has a punchy petrol engine but no diesel engine. Excellent ride quality and stability at high speeds. It has all the latest safety features. Hyundai Elantra, Mercedes A-Class and BMW 2-Series are the rivals. The Octavia is an alternative to compact luxury cars as a family sedan.

  • 2021 Tata Punch Base Model Road Test Review – The Handsome Micro SUV!

2021 Tata Punch Base Model Road Test Review – The Handsome Micro SUV!

We have been waiting for Tata Punch since a long time and finally, Tata has launched this outstanding micro SUV. It is here with its great ground clearance, attractive styling, practically styled cabin, handling balance and more, thus creating a lot of interest in our minds. It was thought to have the concepts of H2X and HBX. We thought it will be named either Rhino or Hornbill. Finally in 2021 Tata Punch has been launched, having its position between Nexon and Tiago. It will be a rival to Maruti Ignis and Mahindra KUV100 and also it will target the customers of hatchbacks like Swift! Let us discuss about the style, features, specifications and price of 2021 Tata Punch in this review!

Tata Punch Base Model Road Test Review
Tata Punch Design and Style – Exterior

The Punch is front wheel drive with perfect ground clearance. As it is based on the Altroz’s ALFARC platform, it is wide on its side. The ram air intake system increases low-end torque and the AMT version with electronics helps you at slippery roads.

The Tata Punch is shorter than the Nexon. The front part has resemblance of Harrier’s fascia and colour options are from the Harrier and Safari.

There are projector headlamps with LED DRLs and halogen fog lamps. There are also LED brake lights with halogen reverse and turn lights. The vehicle looks a bit rounded from the rear and boxy from the front view! The plastic cladding and Tata’s tri-arrow motifs give an appealing look to the Tata Punch. The rear door handles give the Punch a 3-door look. The Punch comes with appropriately sized wheels at 195/60/16 with high bonnet line. The bumpers are blackened out to avoid scratches.

    Tata Punch Interior Features

The Tata Punch has a pretty great interior design with a dual-tone colour theme. The cabin has high quality materials and consistent finish except for the usage of plastic covers for the 12V charging sockets. The layout for the buttons and controls is really a good aspect.

The Punch has the steering wheel, instrument cluster and floating touchscreen similar to that of the Altroz. In fact, the instrument cluster has a better-looking unit than the Tiagon. The 7-inch touchscreen hails from Harman. There are 4 speakers and 2 tweeters set up on the A-pillars. The doors can fit 1 tweeter each. There is extremely good quality of sound.

The Punch has sufficient space in the cabin with fabric upholstery at all places. The front seats are large sized and comfortable. You can have a good view of the path ahead and also the bonnet from the driver’s seat. The ORVMs are same as that of Nexon with comfortable seating position of the driver. There is no front centre armrest. Each door has a 1-litre bottle holder with some small storage areas. The centre area has 2 cup holders, one USB port and two 12V charging sockets.

The rear seat also is comfortable to sit with knee room exactly sufficient for 2 tall passengers with enough headroom. If 3 people would sit in the rear seat, they would be packed tightly. Headrest for the middle passenger is missing. As the floor is flat at the rear, there is a little legroom for the middle passenger. You can find two adjustable headrests at the rear and there is also a centre armrest. There are no rear AC vents. The boot capacity is 366-litres. The Punch has front and rear 90-degree opening doors.

    Tata Punch Performance

The Tata Punch has a 1.2-litre, 3-cyl, NA petrol engine that makes 86 PS of power and 113 Nm of torque. You can get a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT with this engine. Refinement levels are fine. It sounds a bit noisy from the outside but there is less noise in the cabin. There is some sound from the engine at higher RPMs. There are some vibrations but they are not bothersome.

The engine is good at outright power delivery. The vehicle moves with ease on part throttle. The low-end is good but the car feels flat at mid-range and takes more time to move up the RPM band. This does not support fast driving but it is fine for daily city usage. With claims of 0-100 km/hr time of 16.50 seconds from Tata, you could expect at least 17.09 seconds with MT and 19.13 seconds with AMT.

The 5-speed AMT is smooth but slow to shift cogs. Manual mode helps with overtakes. The 5-speed MT drivability is good with a light clutch. You can expect Punch to render about 12-13 km/l in the city and 14-15 km/l on highways. The MT has an idle start-stop feature which helps you to save fuel.

    Tata Punch Driving Experience

The Tata Punch does not give a feeling of driving a small car but is has advanced features that gives you confidence to drive on both city and open roads. The suspension setup and ride quality are great. The steering is light at low speeds which gives good feedback and also it weighs more at high speeds. Even though the steering is not precise, the Punch is confident at sudden lane changes and some tough cornering.

The off-road driving is fine at inclines, gradients, and even bed of rocks. If one of the front wheels gets stuck without traction, you can see a prompt on the infotainment screen asking permission to activate Traction Pro mode. After activating, with the brake pedal pressed, you have to accelerate the car. The other wheel having traction starts moving and finally takes the vehicle out. If you are using this mode too much, the vehicle would ask you to wait for 2 minutes to prevent over-heating.

    Safety

The safety features of Tata Punch are dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX child seat mounts and Brake Sway Control.

    Tata Puch Verdict

The handsome design, feature-loaded cabin, comfortable interior and excellent drive quality are the special features of Tata Punch! The features and functions are exceedingly well with very little to complain about. It has the correct combo of design, cabin layout and features. The only lower side is that the engine is a bit slow. People considering to buy Ignis, Swift or lower variants of the Nissan Magnite might like the Punch.

    Tata Puch Specifications

  • Skoda Kushaq Review – 2021 First Drive Review

Skoda Kushaq Review – 2021 First Drive Review

Skoda Kushaq is the new SUV developed by VWG for India. As a “mid-size” SUV it is a rival to Hyundai Creta and the Kia Seltos. Let us take a closer look to see what it really has to offer in this car review! of Skoda Kushaq review from Autogos experts.

2021 Skoda Kushaq Design And Style

The Skoda Kushaq gets its name from the Sanskrit word “Kushak” meaning king. It was previously named as Vision IN. The Kushaq is easily identified by people as Skoda. The most outstanding feature is the bonnet line running along the center of the bonnet, and also there are some lines in the metal body of the car. These lines add to the premium look of this vehicle.

Skoda Kushaq Review – 2021 First Drive Review

The LED headlamps and fog lamps are good looking but, most of all, the LED tail-lamps are the ones that stand in mind. The chrome strip together with the bonnet line, the plastic lining along the lower half of the body and skid plates on both ends also adds to the classy appearance of the Skoda Kushaq. The 17-inch dual tone alloy wheels are the most attractive among the features of this new arrival of Skoda!

Skoda Kushaq Review– Interiors And Features

An ultra-modern dashboard fascinates you when you enter the cabin. It has three contrasting materials which proves it to be superior. A gloss strip running along the dash adds to the premium value. The neat and minimal layout with excellent function is the most desirable aspect of the design. There are only limited number of buttons on the central console. The European Skoda has physical buttons but the Kushaq has touch panels especially as the Indian customers like it. The touchpad works very intuitively and you should be careful to avoid brushing the panel by chance because it reacts to every touch made. You will get used to this with practice.

The Skoda Kushag offers separate compartments for phone and bottles. There is a tag holder and storage box beneath the central elbow rest. There is a 10.5-inch infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple Car play connectivity suites. There is also a wireless charger in the cubbies with two usb-type C fast charging ports at the front and back. The front seat of the Style variant is modified such that there is a ventilation function which makes the cabin more comfortable while driving in humid areas. Valet mode is a unique feature in Kushaq. This mode locks the infotainment system and also records boot and hood unlocks, door unlocks and also the number of kms driven when it is under the control of the valet. You can deactivate this with a secret 4-digit pin.

The cabin is very spacious because of the tall roofline and low floor line. There is a lot of leg room available at the back also because of the Kushaq’s extra long wheelbase. The Kushaq has very less shoulder room at the back because of the the narrow track which gives a tight feeling if three people have to travel. Two people can travel comfortably with a lot of knee and headroom for both.

Skoda Kushaq – Driving Experience – 1.0 TSI and I.5 TSI

2021 Skoda Kushaq 1.0 TSI is the available engine option, fitted with all the three variants. This three-cylinder unit has some changes but makes the same 115PS. Torque has increased by 3 Nm to 178 Nm, the rev-range is same as in Rapid. The six-speed torque converter is with greater focus on efficiency to suit the Kushaq. The Sport mode is more low. You have paddle shifters to move on the Kushaq. The tendency of this gearbox to stagger the car from moving ahead from a stop necessitates more attentiveness of the driver.

    Skoda Kushaq Mileage

When you sit in the driver seat, you will really feel the true elegance of Skoda Kushag. It has a 1.5 litre 4-cylinder TSI petrol motor with 148bhp with 250Nm of torque. Due to the taller displacement, the lag is not felt and it is easy to drive in the traffic. The long wheelbase, low floor height and narrower track makes it more graceful. The suspension is between rebound and compression and firm at quick corners but manages to keep your passengers from the effects of bumps and potholes. Even though the Kushaq has a number of complex braking systems, the feedback from the disc/drum is not satisfactory. A DCT indecision at crawling speeds occurs but fades away. The large displacement engine also delivers power in the rev-band and increases further in the sport mode. The well-calibrated cylinder-deactivation and stop-start with extra gear ratio gives more efficiency.

    Skoda Kushaq – Safety

The safety package assures complete safety to its driver and passengers. The top style trim has roll-over mitigation and electronic differential lock. There are six airbags but the rear-view camera is a lower side. There are no rear disc brakes but still the Kushaq is able to achieve desired stopping distances.

    Verdict

The Skoda has strong features, excellent performance level and all the aspects of a practical SUV. Skoda Kushaq has its base from MQB AOIN. It will overtake Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta in the market. The SUV will be sold at 1.0 L TSI and a 1.5 L TSI without any diesel trim. The smooth ride with the quieter engine without any vibrations, spacious cabin, and the modern infotainment are the prominent features of the New 2021 Skoda Kushaq.

Do you want to make this the most dynamic of the compact SUVs as your own vehicle? Drive it home soon and have a nice time with your family!

  • 2021 Mercedes Benz GLA 220d Review – Sophisticated and Modern!

2021 Mercedes Benz GLA 220d Review – Sophisticated and Modern!

Mercedes-Benz GLA is an entry-level luxury car which is a prestigious investment to many of the Indians. The last-gen GLA gave the sales result of 10% of all Mercedes-Benz cars that was sold in India from 2014 to 2019. The debut of this second-gen model has gotten delayed in India since its global debut took place in late 2019 due to the pandemic. It is finally here now, but acquiring the 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLA 220d is a matter of choice between the high price and a genuine Mercedes experience. Read our review to get a good idea about the changes and modernizations made in this new version!

2021 Mercedes Benz GLA 220d Review

    2021 Mercedes-Benz GLA 220d Dimensions, Styling, Architecture

The revised version of Mercedes-Benz GLA shares its MFA2 front-wheel-drive architecture with new A-Class Limousine. This SUV is 14mm shorter, 30mm wider and 104mm taller compared to the outgoing GLA. Due to the 46mm increase in track widths, the GLA does not have the lanky, jacked-up hatchback look and has a proportioned stance. It has an upright cabin. There is lot of usable space inside. It looks very sophisticated but does not look like a traditional SUV, instead it is very modern and new!

The GLA 220d is styled similar to all the other Mercedes SUVs. The LED headlamps makes it look like a member of the Mercedes family with the concave grille, the large Mercedes Logo, dotted with chrome on the top AMG Line version and wide air dam are all the traits of Mercedes. More restrained bodywork can be seen with simple surfaces and minimal cuts. The rear-end has a wide two-part LED taillamps with sharp sill below the rear windscreen.

The GLA 220d 4Matic has the richness you would like to have from other Mercedes and the AMG Line design pack. The straked bumper elements, the subtle chrome accents and the faux exhausts and vents at the rear increase its ambience. The unique 19-inch AMG wheels in gunmetal grey give a special look to the GLA.

    2021 Mercedes-Benz GLA 220d, 220d 4Matic Interiors, Features

The GLA follows the Mercedes tradition but at the same time, the new changes in the interiors are marvelous. Mercedes-Benz has recreated much of the luxury of other cars in this version. The layout is highlighted with a pair of 10.25-inch MBUX screens with crisp graphics with voice assistance and easy functionality. The centre stack is wide, holding a touchpad and toggle switches with tasteful ambient lightings. The tubular air vents give damped and tactile feel like the other cars of this brand. Also, the controls and switchgear are similar to other versions.

Many of these features are also present in the new A-Class along with some other new distinct features. The layered dash layout found in the A-Class has been replaced with a flat surface with a contrasting panel on the side of the passenger seat. Tubular design is also different for the door handles with a cold stainless steel finish.

On the lower side, the piano-style switches should have been less plasticky and also the footwell is missing the softness.

    2021 Mercedes-Benz GLA 220d

The Mercedes-Benz GLA 220d AMG Line has an all-black theme with brushed aluminium highlights, contrasting stitching, well-placed suede patches and a flat bottomed steering wheel. It is a traditional luxury car with textured wood and beige which adds to the spacious look. The large dual-pane sunroof is a bit taking us astray from the AMG Line feel. There are large storage spaces, especially at the centre console with a wireless charging pad and under the armrest. The supportive and fully powered front seats are too stiffly padded. There are some seat kinetic features which are the mostly liked by the admirers of GLE. You can make minor adjustments to the seatback and base to avoid feeling stiff during and after a long journey.

A 30mm longer wheelbase has freed up about 114mm of rear legroom. Elbow room and shoulder room are a bit tight fit. The bulged door cards make ingress/egress a bit difficult. Another good thing about this car is that even tall passengers could have comfortable drive with a lot of legroom in the front seats. The under-thigh support and softness of the cushioning could have been a bit more better A separate climate zone would have been preferable, a two-zone climate control on offer is present, otherwise.

Mercedes-Benz GLA 220d Engine, Gearbox, Performance

The 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLA 220d and 220d 4Matic have the same engine-gearbox combinations of the A-Class Limousine. The 1.3-litre turbo of the petrol is co-designed with Renault-Nissan and it makes 165PS and 250 Nm with seven-speed DCT. The diesel is OM654 unit with higher 190PS and 400 Nm tune. The diesel paired with the AWD system on the top-spec GLA 220d 4Matic has an extraordinary performance when compared to the detuned A-Class. Mild vibrations at the pedals are felt in the first two gears which are not felt in isolation. Some diesel clatter also is felt in the cabin at low revs. If you get over these, an undiesel-like growl past 3,500 rpm is felt.

    Mercedes-Benz GLA 220d Engine

You will get a calm feeling in your daily driving process as revs are kept well below 2,000rpm with the eight-speed DCT. A surge of torque happens but by switching to the sport mode, the motor gets rid of this character easily. The gearbox holds revs longer such that you have powerband to handle. The engine brake may be quite aggressive and put you in to trouble on downshifts. The paddle shifters gives you extra control if you need

One among the areas that need improvement is that the DCT which holds downshifts more longer than needed in the Eco and Comfort modes which makes slowing down a bit tough. Shifts in the lower gears become uncomfortable and jerky at times. The OM 654 is the top performer in terms of fuel efficiency tests. It has a combined fuel efficiency of 14.72 kmpl for FWD and 14.32 kmpl for AWD. This is the reason for the high pricing of GLA.

    2021 Mercedes-Benz GLA 220d, 220d 4Matic Riding Experience

With a very functional motor, the Mercedes GLA moves with ease. The 4Matic AWD has only 20% torque go to the rear wheels which increases 30% in the Sport mode. This assistance is not needed for regular driving but helps when you need grip in situations like accelerating or going through a twisty turn.

The large tyre sizes and well-judged suspension helps it to handle the ups and downs in the highway very easily as it has over 180mm of ground clearance. As for regular city use, the GLA feels a bit stiff on bad patches of road and thuds are audible over bumps and potholes because of the 50-profile tyres on the AMG Line version. But the 18-inch wheels soften the rough edges. The 4Matic version has an off-road mode that splits torque 50:50 between the two axles. We suggest that it is best not to try the off-road mode because of the low profile wheel and tyre combination and the crossover shape.

    2021 Mercedes-Benz GLA 220d, 220d 4Matic Safety

The India-spec has an active braking function with the brake assist function which is already present in the other Mercedes cars. The safety features include seven airbags one of them being a knee bag, a bonnet that pops up for the protection of the pedestrians, pre-safe system and TPMS. The AWD version, additionally, hill-descent control is available. All these features make it a completely safe vehicle to drive.

    2021 Mercedes-Benz GLA 220d, 220d 4Matic Verdict

Mercedes-Benz GLA is costlier than rivals like BMW X1 and Volvo XC40. The high pricing is reasonable for all its special features. 4Matic diesel is nearly Rs 50 lakh but that is for the comfort we get while traveling in it. Even though the experience of a more pliant ride and aggressive look is missing, the capable diesel drivetrain and the best interior features make the GLA a complete Mercedes SUV at a reasonable price.

  • Review For Datsun Redi Go 2021 Facelift Road Test Review – Stylish and New

Review For Datsun Redi Go 2021 Facelift Road Test Review – Stylish and New

The Redigo is the Datsun’s new launch which is a competitor among the entry-level hatchbacks namely Renault Kwid, S-Presso an Maruti Suzuki Alto. With this facelift, Nissan has made many new changes to both exterior and interior aspects. It is mechanically the same but has some improvements in its features. Read our review to know in what ways the Datsun Redi-Go facelift is better.

Review For Datsun Redi Go 2021

Review For Datsun Redi Go 2021: Exterior Design and Style

The front part of the new Datsun Redi-Go has a lot of changes. It has the typical look of the Datsun family. The large, chrome-bracketed grille extending down to the bumpers, the L-shaped DRLs and small fog lamps are the important attractions. A distinct light signature like Magnite also catches your attention but as there are no sheet metal changes, it is not so effectively visualized as on the Magnite.

There are clear-cut lines on the body which are odd looking. The new 14-inch steel wheels with a dual-tone wheel cover give a lively look. The new LED highlight for the taillamps is the main change at the rear.

2021 Datsun Redi-Go Interior, Space, Features

The interior of the pre-facelift Redi-Go was not satisfactory because of its notable cost-cutting measures. Hence, there are many rectifying measures taken while designing this new update. So an ultra-modern dash has been introduced in this new face lift version. The Redi-Go gets to the top position because of its horizontal theme, rectangular vents and centre console. The brushed effect plastic and gloss black inserts around the centre stack, the cloth inserts on the door pads along with the new seat fabric have given a superior look to the newcomer. The plastics could have been avoided which are not so suitable for this car with many new features!

There is no exposed sheet metal in the door cards and there is plastic cladding around C-pillar panels. There are some storage spaces on the centre console and a new slot on top of the glovebox but these cannot hold things with safety. The door cards can hold wallets and phones. Boots space is not so sufficient. The rear-seat passengers have full-sized bottle holders and you can fold down the rear seatback to free up space for luggage.

     Datsun Redi Go Price

Space at the rear seat can hold two passengers with comfort on most journeys. The ingress and egress are easy due to the high 187mm ground clearance. There is a basic flat cushioning for the rear seats and a long squab that gives good amount of under-thigh support. However, taller adults have less legroom. The tall roof and large glasshouse create a ventilated space but children may feel somewhat caged because of the rising windows and as the rear windows could not be rolled down fully. The lack of a substantial headrest is a missing comfort factor.

An 8-inch touch screen is a positive aspect with Android Auto and Apple Carplay. There is also a rear-view camera. Passenger airbag and the mirror adjustments are internal. The instrument cluster has been revived with an easily readable speedo and a digital tachometer with a trip computer.

2021 Datsun Redi-Go Engine, Gearbox and Driving

The seats are such that you sit at a higher level making it easy even for shorter drivers without any availability of height adjustment. The 1.0 L 3-cylinder engine with 68PS and 91 Nm is not the best in the industry with respect to refinement and responsiveness, but it is easy to use as it has a low-end grunt and alert throttle pedal. Highway speed maintenance is a challenge with high gears tuned for efficiency than performance and absence of turbocharged mid-range torque. City drives are not affected by this but long travels are a bit difficult as the shifter can hamper progress.

The Redi-Go has a tall and narrow shape which can easily go through the traffic filled city roads but there is a bit of hefty steering feel. The soft suspension are not so capable of saving you from bumps. This car does not give confidence to handle the highway speeds because the shape and high ground clearance allow the crosswinds to affect your speed. The steering response is slow. The redi-Go’s brakes are the best in the segment but there is a progressive feel from the pedal and hence you can experience some panic stops.

    2021 Datsun Redi-Go Verdict

The Datsun Redi-Go has become a complete product with this update. The linear motor, a striking face and more competitive features are the advantages that make the Datsun Redi-Go a rival to the Maruti Alto and Renault Kwid. It costs less than its rivals. The absence of power windows, insufficient high-speed stability and very little service network are the drawbacks. The fashionable design, easily drivable quality and ground clearance are the positive aspects!

  • 2021 KTM 250 Adventure Road Test Review – Touring Bike!

2021 KTM 250 Adventure Road Test Review – Touring Bike!

KTM recently launched the 250 Adventure in India after the 390 Adventure. The all-new KTM 250 Adventure is a bike which has features that range between the Duke 250 and the 390 Adventure. It has the hardware matching with the 390 Adventure and the engine matching with Duke! Here is our review of the new KTM 250 Adventure which will tell you all the details that you want to know about its modifications and specializations!

2021 KTM Adventure Design And Style

2021 KTM 250 Adventure Road Test Review

When viewing from a distance the 250 and the 390 Adventure look very much the same. There is a tiny model sticker in Italics reading KTM which is barely visible from a distance. KTM has given it a halogen with DRL instead of the all LED. Other than the headlamp, the indicators and the tail light feature LEDs which gives a premium to the bike. The textured plastic under the seat also gives a premium look. There are two colour options, namely orange and stealthy black with orange touch. The centre-set footpegs are at a comfortable posture. The handle bar is made up of steel. There is enough space for the rider and pillion. There are off-road foot pegs with rubber inserts to be used at rough times. The seat height is of 855 mm which is not suitable for average height. No adjustable levers as in the 390.

2021 KTM Adventure – Instrument Cluster and Switchgear:

The instrument cluster of the 250 Adventure is designed based on the 390 Adventure. It is a big, fully-digital TFT display which provides a lot of information like average speed, fuel consumption, distance to empty, tank range, ABS modes, and service reminder with basic information. It is not the same unit of 390 because it misses screen colour and connectivity features. The 250 has a 12V socket below the speedometer and a GPS mount same as the 390 Adventure. The switchgear quality is great without any complaint but the quality is lower than that of 390 Adventure.

    KTM Adventure Performance

The 250 Adventure has a BS6 compliant 248.8cc motor as on Duke 250. The performance is at 29.60 BHP and 24 Nm of torque. The 250 Adventure has not much of low-end grunt but in the mid-range, it performs better and motor becomes lively towards the redline. The performance is ideal for an entry-level adventure bike. The slick-shifting 6-speed gearbox and slipper clutch are good features. The quick-shifter and traction control from the 390 are missing but without them also, there is no problem. No heating issues because of the radiator fans. The bike gave 27-30 km/l and offers up to 30-33 km/l when ridden wisely.

    Riding Experience

The KTM 250 gets the Trellis frame and the WP Apex suspension from the 390 Adventure. It helps while riding over ups and downs and broken roads but you would feel a need for more perfection when you ride off-road, rocky terrains and long tours. KTM has not cornered ABS and traction control on the 250 Adventure making it less safer than 390 Adventure.

We do not feel any difference in the performance of KTM 250 and 390 both in their on and off-road mannerisms. The KTM 250 has MRF Meteors tyres while the 390 has Metzeler Tournace. Both of them have decent grip levels but Tourance is costlier.

The braking hardware is not much changed from the 390 Adventure. The only difference is that the unit of KTM 250 Adventure has organic pads but the 390 Adventure has sintered unit. The organic pads give a more progressive feel!

    Verdict

The very high seat, weak low-end grunt and mid-range; and unsatisfactory suspension are the lower side factors. The good road presence, feel and look of a premium bike and non-dissipation of too much heat and perfect refinement, and great dynamics are the advantages. The 250 Adventure has excellent and top-notch equipments like the LCD display, LED tail light, LED indicators, WP Apex suspension, and slipper clutch. It surely justifies the onroad price of Rs. 2,84,903.

    KTM 250 Adventure Specifications

  • Yamaha FZ-X New Model First Ride Review – Retrostyle!

Yamaha FZ-X New Model First Ride Review – Retrostyle!

Bike lovers have been awaiting the launch of Yamaha XSR 155 in India since 2019. Yamaha decided not to introduce this very costly bike in India, but instead, to bring in a special bike for the Indians based on a simpler and affordable vehicle, the Yamaha FZ. The company launched the new FZ-X which has the same Deltabox chassis, engine, and many other features similar to standard FZ. This retro-styled motorcycle Yamaha FZ-X has many traits of the hot selling Yamaha FZ series. Exited to know more? Read our article further for more info!

    Yamaha FZ-X New Model Design:

    Yamaha FZX New Model BS6

The new Yamaha FZ-X has many features of FZ series but there are many differences also from the standard FZ. The front part has a round headlamp which has a bi-functional LED surrounded by three lights. The fuel tank is teardrop-shaped with a pair of radiator shrouds which are cosmetic and surprisingly, this bike does not have a radiator! There is a negative LCD display with Bluetooth connectivity which is an old feature. There is a metal bash plate and a suspension which is similar to that of the standard FZ. The bike gives a rugged vibe caused due to its metal parts – the front mudguard, the bash plate, solid looking tank are some of them. The fork gaiters and the block pattern tyres give a look of good off-road machine. The tank has an off-centered unbalanced fuel lid. It seems to be big but holds only 10 L of fuel, 3 L less than the standard FZ tank. As a rider, you would have to stop at many places to fill fuel. The tail section has a very simple grab-handle that is placed over the LED tail lamp.

Yamaha FZ-X Engine, Chasis and Suspension

The FZ-X has hardware which is same as the other 150cc FZ bikes. The air-cooled 149cc single-pot motor comes under the 150cc class. The FZ-X has a smooth 5-seed gearbox. The motor has single downtube frame like the FZ and a telescopic fork to perform the suspension at the front and a preload adjustable monoshock at the back. The front and rear disc brakes are the same as that of standard 150cc FZ.

    Features Of Yamaha FZ-X

Features Of Yamaha FZ-XThe Yamaha FZ-X has Bluetooth connectivity which is a standard feature of the top-spec variant which would cost more than that of the standard FZ-X model. The Yamaha Connect Y app can be availed through which you can access a lot of information on your bike like average fuel consumption, schedule services, access riding logs, and more on your smart phone. Message and call notification details is shown on the LCD when connected with this app but it does not support navigation. There is a 12V power outlet on the handle bar.

    Performance

The weight of FZ-X is about 4kg more than the standard FZ with its metal bits. The FZ-X has good low end torque and decent mid-range performance. It renders a nice and smooth performance at normal speed but at high speed, its performance is not appreciable. This engine can run with the throttle wide open for the whole day but while overtaking a vehicle quickly, you would need to shift down 1 or 2 cogs having the throttle fully open. You cannot go at a high speed. At 70kmph, the engine would feel over stressed. At more than 80kmph, you will lose your comfort zone. If you go beyond 100kmph, it is just a great achievement!

    Yamaha FZ-X Riding And Handling

You can handle the bike easily at a balanced and neutral chassis but it is not the sharpest bike among all the bikes. The MRF dual-purpose tyres run smoothly on dry surfaces. With a decent ride quality and slightly firm feel due to suspension, the front brake feels quite dull but the actual braking performance is good. A standard rear disc and FZ-X is available with single-channel ABS. The off-road capability of FZ-X is same as the standard FZ. This is due to the suspension travel and ground clearance remaining the same. Additionally, the tyres provide extra grip while driving on dirt.

The FZ-X doesn’t manage to do anything better or more than what the standard FZ is capable of doing. It has the same amount of suspension travel and even the same wheelbase, just that the tyres might give you a little more grip over some minor rough patches.

    Verdict:

Yamaha FZ-X is about rupees 12000 costlier than the standard Yamaha FZ as you get the neo-retro styled motorcycle with a little tough approach with some tweaked designs. It has equal functionality as that of the standard FZ model. The only reason you would prefer to buy it is if you love a rugged-looking motorcycle which would give you a low-speed ride.

    Yamaha FZ-X Key Specifications:

    Displacement: 149 cc.
    Transmission: 5-Speed.
    Max Power(ps): 12.40
    Max Torque(Nm): 13.30
    Mileage: NA

    Engine displacement: 149cc
    Transmission: 5-Speed

    Fuel Tank Capacity 10
    Mileage (Overall): NA

  • Triumph Trident 660 India Review (BS6)

Triumph Trident 660 India Review (BS6)

Bikers love their bikes more than anything else in this world. Did you grow up yearning for a bike of your own and hope to be a good biker? Are you at the age of buying your first bike? The 2021 Triumph Trident 660 is the bike for you. Excited to know the features and specifications of this bike? Read our review to know all!

Triumph Trident 660 India Review (BS6)

Triumph Trident 660 Design and Style

The bike has the iconic nameplate of a classic sporty roadster bike of the 90s but has the traits of the latest Street Triple and it has the capacity to become one of the most successful bikes of the company.

The Triumph Trident has a rounded tank, slim forks, front fender, and simple radiator shrouds that are very good looking but not so attractive. As Triumph wanted to give a retro look to the bike, they designed a circular headlight and instrument cluster. The only significant and unique feature is the modest tail and the tail-light with coloured underside. There is a little Triumph logo embedded in it.

The Trident is best for those who would like to upgrade from KTM 250s and 390s. It is a large bike, almost 1-1/2 times larger than the entry-spec Dukes. It is good for average height and short people also. For people who are more than 6 feet tall, there will be some discomfort as their knees will reach to the end of the knee recesses. Riders with large boots will have their legs reach the foot peg holders of the pillion. The seat is 805mm tall but easy to get on due to the narrow saddle profile. There is a fat cushioning and wide rear which would be comfortable for both the rider and the pillion on long rides.

As the handlebars are wider compared to the Street Triple, you would get a good leverage but an early steering lock limits the flexibility while riding or turning at narrow spaces. The curved handlebars and raised foot pegs give you a relaxed and sporty riding posture. The tank has unique narrow recesses and plastic inlays which offer good traction for the knees when braking or sport riding. The tank is large and hence gives a feeling of riding a large bike but overall, the the bike feels small and weighs light like a Street Triple.

The classy tank, handlebars and headlights stay highlighted in your mind so that the lower-side facts such as the switchgear quality, entry-spec suspension and brakes are just forgotten. You just have a feeling that the Trident is a sophisticated two-wheeler and so is it! The fit and finish are perfect and faultless and better than the vehicles from which you are upgrading.

    Chassis And Suspension

The Trident exposes the bespoke steel tubular frame and the swingarm with a conventional straight arm on the left side and gull-arm on the right, with the under-belly exhaust canister at the right side. The chassis is suspended by 41mm upside-down forks up front and a pre-load adjustable monoshock at the rear from Showa. The ground clearance would be a problem unless you adjust the pre-load.

The braking hardware are sliding-type Nissin callipers at the front and rear which work fine. They are fine for riding over highways and even sports-riding in mountains but they are not suitable for track ride.

    Engine

The Trident Engine is of 660cc capacity and derived from the Daytona with respect to design and engineering. Otherwise internals like crank, pins, pistons, head, cams etc. are new. The powertrain has a slip and assist clutch. The clutch lever is not adjustable. This engine has a ride-by-wire which with two riding modes – peppy road mode and a dull rain.

    Triumph Trident 660 Riding Experience

The Trident rides on all rough surfaces with ease and also rides on large speed breakers without any problem, sitting high off the ground. The suspension setup is not so good but still no discomfort is felt. In spite of the short gearing, the power delivery is linear and smooth. The throttle is not rough and you can easily ride over corners because there is no overwhelming of power felt. The essence of the power is between the 3,000-8,000rpm mark, but the short gearing and a healthy spread of torque between the 3,-9,000rpm mark is a very positive feature of Trident. The tractability is superb.

    Verdict

Triumph Trident is the most inexpensive bike of Triumph with very high features and performance. In fact it is a better choice than the Street Triples of 5-6 years ago with 69PS output. Triumph offers low cost of ownership with a service interval of 16,000km. So we conclude that the new 2021 TriumphTrident 660 would be a valuable possession which is worthy for its price!

  • 2021 Jaguar F Pace Facelift Road Test Review – Graceful and Spacious!

2021 Jaguar F Pace Facelift Road Test Review – Graceful and Spacious!

The Jaguar F-Pace has its own special place among the luxury SUVs. It is larger than X3 and GLC but not quite large like the X5 or GLE. If Jaguar launches an electric vehicle, it would be completely different from that which is available now. As for now. Let us go through the new changes in 2021 Jaguar F Pace facelift in its transitory period. What the advantages of the new features for this vehicle. Jaguar has addressed a few big problems that were there in the previous model. What are the important changes that happened in this new facelift version of the luxury SUV?

    Jaguar F Pace

2021 Jaguar F Pace facelift Exterior

When you look closer at the F-Pace’s exterior design, it looks very new and fresh outside. There are large, brushed chrome studded grille; slim headlamps and bugged new bonnet to keep the svelte look intact. The new design of the 19-inch wheels and slimmer tail lamps also give an effective new look. The India-spec F-Pace is with sharper bumper details which is only available in the R-Dynamic design package and makes a good combination with coupe-esque shape of the Jaguar.

2021 Jaguar F-Pace Facelift: Interior, Touchscreen and Features

Even though there are no exterior changes, there are many interior changes to such an extent that it is completely unrecognizable from its previous version. The dull and featureless interior has been changed to a contemporary and luxurious space. The Mars Red colour scheme and the tan color scheme, both are attractive and pleasant. The layout is same as that of cars at this price range with high cowl and themed elements horizontally placed. The strakes over the air vents and ribbed aluminium panels are good to look at and feel. The soft-touch leather covers each and every surface. The footwell plastics are also soft-touch which are wonderful and are not a common finding in many cars which cost the same as this.

At the centerpiece of the 2021 Jaguar F-Pace cabin is the new curved Pivi Pro touchscreen. It has a high-resolved display, intuitive layout and crisper transitions. There is a separate power source which helps you to connect your phone immediately after you enter the cabin. This works co-ordinating with the crisp Android Auto integration. It is not so functional and you will surely miss the presence of a wireless Android Auto/Apple Carplay. These problems may be solved with the help of SOTA capabilities.

The new gloss black climate controls and the aluminium-cased centre console are better features that were not there in the previous version. It gives an artistic look to the cabin and it is intuitive to use, especially the leather-stubbed shifter is better than the rotary dial of the previous version. But it would have been better if the plastic in the rotary climate knobs were a little less. Also, the capacitive switches could have been more palpable.

Instead of the odd window switch, there are the new door cards which have given more storage space. There is a space on the sill to rest your arms where you have the contrasting stitching which looks neat. The Jaguar F-Pace Facelift has a wider space that was provided in the X3 for the rear seat passengers. There is enough room for your feet. The reclining seats give good angle of recline and good support. You will really like the large panoramic sunroof with the light

You will also like the four-zone climate control and the deep Meridian audio system. Rear sunshades and ventilated front seats are the missing aspects for a vehicle such as Jaguar with its premium pricing. Safety features are good with front side and curtain airbags and a 360-degree camera system. For whatever reason may be, the useful lane-departure warning system from the earlier version has been dropped which is another missing feature.

    2021 Jaguar F-Pace: Driving Experience

There are no mechanical changes in the Jaguar F-Pace from earlier version. It continues to have good driver involvement and gives a feeling of comfort when driving the vehicle. You have to sit in a very high position when you drive but the bonnet allows you to have a very good view from the front. This steering is of a new style which is the best, with cold stainless steel paddles which are very useful on some occasions.

    2021 Jaguar F-Pace

The variable-ratio tuning quickens the steering when you increase the speed or dial in lock. This gives the F-Pace a sense of agility in most driving situations which is a very rare feature in an SUV weighing more than 1,800 kg in spite of the aluminium construction. You can experience some body-roll because of the generous 200mm ground clearance. These are progressive movements and well contained. The 2021 Jaguar F-Pace can surely offer a confident driving experience to you if you would like to use for daily travelling to office or go up hills for a picnic.

The AWD system will send torque to the front axle on bends and on accelerations. Brake-based torque-vectoring system brakes the inner wheel and hence sends more power to the outer one. The mechanics of Jaguar F-Pace are similar to Range Rover Velar. It tackles the monsoon Mumbai roads well and the steel springs keep away bumps and undulations and the SUV gives you a comfortable ride in most situations.

The Jaguar F-Pace has a new diesel engine, the P250 petrol is unchanged. This is a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol which gives 250PS and 365 Nm. The torque is low and there will never be a situation when it would be a problem. A realistic speaker-enhanced growl will help you. The 8-speed ZF torque converter should have been more alert but switching to S gearbox mode would control this to some extent. But with the F-Pace’s high price, we would like a powerful engine option. The 300PS version or the new mild-hybrid 3.0-litre would increase the excitement but this 2.0 L does not help.

    2021 Jaguar F-Pace Facelift: Verdict

The Jaguar F-Pace offers a unique and worthy riding experience and hence it should be sold better than it actually does. Both the driving and the lounging experience at the back is very enjoyable and comfortable. The motor should have been a little bit more functional. With a better outlay and better-executed interior, the 2021 Jaguar F-Pace Facelift is really worth its price.

    Real-World Mileage:

Harley-Davidson Pan America –The Adventure Bike

Harley-Davidson Pan America is the first adventure touring motorcycle from the American motorcycle manufacturer. It is open for booking in the global markets in two variants – Pan America 1250 and Pan America 1250 Special with 1,250cc Revolution Max V-twin engine. New features namely ride modes and cornering rider safety enhancements and (ARH) adaptive rider height are the other important features.

Harley-Davidson Pan America Frame and wheels

The frames are bolted to the powertrain. This design reduces weight and helps better handling. There is a cast-aluminum swingarm. The wheelbase is 62.2 inches with cast aluminum wheels 19-inch (front) and a 17-inch (rear). Pan America has a specially designed Scorcher Adventure. They have a knobby tread pattern for better off-road traction.

Harley-Davidson Pan America Brakes And Suspension

Harley-Davidson collaborated with Brembo to design the brakes. These have the new radial monoblock four-piston (30 mm) caliper with 320mm two front rotors and one 280mm rear rotor. There is also a lightweight front brake master cylinder that offers adjustable lever response. The suspension has adjustable compression/rebound damping and preload. Suspension travel is 190mm at both front and rear. Front suspension is from Showa 1 by 1 47mm inverted cartridge fork. Rear suspension is a Piggyback reservoir shock with adjustable hydraulic preload, also from Showa.

    Touchscreen Display

A 6.8-inch TFT touchscreen displays instrumentation and infotainment functions. The function of the touchscreen is disabled when the motorcycle is moving. The rider can control it with his hands to manage the functions of the screen display when he is riding. It supports the infotainment from the rider’s Bluetooth-equipped mobile phone including music and calls. Harley-Davidson App for iOS or Android provides navigation.

    Harley-Davidson Pan America Safety

The Pan America 1250 model is facilitated with Cornering Rider Safety Enhancements, electronic systems utilizing the chassis control, electronic brake control with powertrain technology. The technology uses inertial measurement unit, IMU to optimal intervention in a leaned position in comparison to an upright position of the bike. Cornering Enhanced Drag-Torque Slip Control System, Cornering Enhanced Electronically Linked Braking, and Hill Hold Control Cornering Enhanced Traction Control System are some of its elements.

    Harley-Davidson Pan America Ride Modes

Selectable Ride Modes control the performance. Five modes are available and four are pre-programmed and one is customisable. There are two additional modes that can be customised by the rider.
