Hero MotoCorp and Harley-Davidson have announced that Pan America 1250 adventure tourer will be available in India and bookings are open at a starting price of Rs 16.90 lakh (ex-showroom)!
Harley-Davidson Pan America –The Adventure Bike
Harley-Davidson Pan America is the first adventure touring motorcycle from the American motorcycle manufacturer. It is open for booking in the global markets in two variants – Pan America 1250 and Pan America 1250 Special with 1,250cc Revolution Max V-twin engine. New features namely ride modes and cornering rider safety enhancements and (ARH) adaptive rider height are the other important features.
Harley-Davidson Pan America Frame and wheels
The frames are bolted to the powertrain. This design reduces weight and helps better handling. There is a cast-aluminum swingarm. The wheelbase is 62.2 inches with cast aluminum wheels 19-inch (front) and a 17-inch (rear). Pan America has a specially designed Scorcher Adventure. They have a knobby tread pattern for better off-road traction.
Harley-Davidson Pan America Brakes And Suspension
Harley-Davidson collaborated with Brembo to design the brakes. These have the new radial monoblock four-piston (30 mm) caliper with 320mm two front rotors and one 280mm rear rotor. There is also a lightweight front brake master cylinder that offers adjustable lever response. The suspension has adjustable compression/rebound damping and preload. Suspension travel is 190mm at both front and rear. Front suspension is from Showa 1 by 1 47mm inverted cartridge fork. Rear suspension is a Piggyback reservoir shock with adjustable hydraulic preload, also from Showa.
Touchscreen Display
A 6.8-inch TFT touchscreen displays instrumentation and infotainment functions. The function of the touchscreen is disabled when the motorcycle is moving. The rider can control it with his hands to manage the functions of the screen display when he is riding. It supports the infotainment from the rider’s Bluetooth-equipped mobile phone including music and calls. Harley-Davidson App for iOS or Android provides navigation.
Harley-Davidson Pan America Safety
The Pan America 1250 model is facilitated with Cornering Rider Safety Enhancements, electronic systems utilizing the chassis control, electronic brake control with powertrain technology. The technology uses inertial measurement unit, IMU to optimal intervention in a leaned position in comparison to an upright position of the bike. Cornering Enhanced Drag-Torque Slip Control System, Cornering Enhanced Electronically Linked Braking, and Hill Hold Control Cornering Enhanced Traction Control System are some of its elements.
Harley-Davidson Pan America Ride Modes
Selectable Ride Modes control the performance. Five modes are available and four are pre-programmed and one is customisable. There are two additional modes that can be customised by the rider. Pre-programed ride modes are Road, Sport, Rain, Off-Road and Off-Road Plus. Power delivery, engine braking, (C-ABS) and (C-TCS) settings are the ride mode combinations.
