2022 BMW 4 Series Convertible Review : Redesign, Driving Experience

2022 BMW 4 Series Convertible is a soft-top in the 4 Series range, which is also the version with two doors of the 3 Series. It is worth noting that the 3 Series and 4 Series share many of the same engines, and they share several components, despite appearing different from one another.

We are a fan of a little new technology, but the traditional approach is best at times, as is evident by this 2022 BMW 4 Series Convertible.

After boasting for the duration of the first 4 Series about how amazing its roof made of metal that could fold, BMW has recently returned to an old-fashioned cloth roof.

2022 BMW 4 Series Convertible Review : Redesign, Driving Experience

    Pros

    • It is a good idea to drive
    • Comfortable for long-distance trips
    • The soft-top roof of the new model is as quiet as the original hard-top model.

    Cons

    • It’s not as exciting as that of the 4 Series coupe
    • Expensive
    • The rear seats aren’t spacious enough.

Dimensions of the new generation 4 Series convertible swelled a tiny bit, increasing the range of 5.2 or 5.3 inches of length, according to the model you pick. It’s also an inch longer as well as 0.1 inches taller. In addition, its wheelbase has risen to 1.6 inches.

The grip on the front is improved thanks to the front track, which can now be 1.5 inches larger. Final numbers of 2022 BMW 4 Series Convertible see length at 187.9 inches for models with a 430i engine and the trims M440i at 188 inches and width of 72.9 inches.

Background of 2022 BMW 4 Series Convertible

It is more striking than its predecessor, and emulating the bold design and bold style of the 4 Series Coupe showroom stablemate 2022 BMW 4 Series Convertible aims to mix driving pleasure that is sporty with open-air excitement to carry on the tradition of this class of model that first came out with the Munich maker’s initial 3 Series Convertible.

Like before, it is sized similar to its two arch-rivals in the segment, Audi’s A5 Convertible and the Mercedes C-Class Cabriolet, and does it more clearly due to the introduction of a roof made of fabric. Many of the changes beneath the skin have been made to make it more of a chauffeur’s vehicle than before.

Driving Experience of 2022 BMW 4 Series Convertible

BMW has been working hard to ensure that the 2022 BMW 4 Series Convertible ride is as similar to the same as that of the Coupe as possible, with extra bracing and special panels to increase body rigidity. The company claims he is 4 percent higher than the previous steel-topped model.

Like the rest, it comes with rear-wheel drive and xDrive 4WD for the most powerful model (though this AWD system isn’t offered on less powerful engines as it is with the Coupe). In addition, there’s a new spring-strut spring suspension with double joints and a 5-link rear axle.

The main news in the engine department is the launch of the 48V mild-hybrid technology that is compatible with the 2.0-liter diesel engine with 184hp, which is in the 420d volume. This mild hybrid technology is also present in the diesel with six cylinders, such as those with the number M430d (286hp) and the M440d (340hp).

And it’s on the quickest mainstream conventional petrol variant too, the six-cylinder 374hp M440i xDrive, which features BMW’s Sport differential, with electronically-controlled, fully-variable locking function in the rear differential, all of this helping to get the power down through the turns, should you want to drive this car in the kind of enthusiastic manner a likely owner hardly ever would.

If you’re looking for the fastest version of this car, you’ll get directed to the M4 M xDrive Competition Convertible version, which packs 509hp and can reach the speed of 62mph in 3.7s. Toupees need to be secured very tightly.

The real world is back; there are two standard 2.0-liter turbo diesel four-series Convertible models that also come with that of the model 420i (184hp) and the 435i (258hp). All engines work in the standard eight-speed Steptronic auto transmission. A brand new Sprint feature can upgrade this.

Design and Build of 2022 BMW 4 Series Convertible

It’s a clear issue in this case. The inevitable transition from the old model’s steel roof was hard-topped to the type of fabric top that competitors Audi and Mercedes provide. This means 40% less roof weight due to soft tops that use bow elements in the panel and an open rear window made of glass for optimal thermal and acoustic comfort.

The electric roof folds in 18 seconds to open and close and can operate at speeds up to 31 mph. As with its Coupe edition of the model, the more upright kidney grille is the main difference.

It’s designed to reference the classic BMWs such as the prewar model 328, a sports vehicle. This has prompted mixed reactions from those who are loyal to the brand; however, as Design Director Domagoj Dukec points out, up until in the 80s, the grilles were always vertical. BMWs were more horizontal than vertical.

Interiorly, it is in line with the most recent BMW style trends, such as the updated dashboard layout, including the latest drive selector that is more efficient, and an on-off button located in the center console. The BMW Live Cockpit Professional Dash Set-up is standard.

It offers a fully digital display with the highest resolution 12.3-inch instrument cluster in front of the steering wheel and the 10.25-inch iDrive infotainment Central Control Display. The car also has redesigned sports seats and the option of a head-up display that has been redesigned.

The Coupe is described as a “proper four-seater. However, the rear seat isn’t quite as comfortable as in the Coupe. As you’d expect, there’s less storage space in the boot, with the Coupe variant’s capacity of 440-litres decreasing to 385-litres with the roof shut and 300-liters with the top closed.

Cost of Ownership of 2022 BMW 4 Series Convertible

Mild hybrid technology is added to all diesel engines and the petrol straight-six unit found in the BMW M440i xDrive flagship Convertible. Installing a 48V starter generator and an additional battery expands the possibilities of using Brake Energy Regeneration and the electric power it produces.

The recovered energy generated from the battery at 48V can be fed via the 12-volt electrical systems, or it can be used to generate additional drive power when returned to the 48V starter generator. If the vehicle is speeding, the generator can provide the driver with an electric boost effect that instantly puts an additional 11hp available.

All of which could lead to an impressive performance-related set of statistics. Let’s see. Let’s start with the gasoline models. The 420i can achieve 49.6mpg in the combined cycle and up to 131g/km CO2 emissions. In the 430i version, the figures go as high as 47.1mpg with a 138g/km mark maximum.

In the M440i xDrive model, the figures go up to 40.9mpg and up to 160g/km. What about diesel? The 420d’s official numbers are at 67.3mpg with a maximum of 112g/km. For the 430d, it’s up to 50.4mpg and up to 147g/km. The M440d xDrive version it’s 44.8mpg and 160g/km. For the M4 version, the figure is 27.7mpg with 231g/km.

    Summary

Like many of its customers are, BMW is quietly satisfied with the 2022 BMW 4 Series Convertible. What would be a more exciting driving machine without the additional burden of the roof’s mechanicals? The sharper exterior over its 4 Series Coupe stablemate certainly suggests this.

It seems that the majority of buyers of the open-topped model are quite content, having a relaxed and easygoing style. This is the case, in reality, more than competitors like Audi and Mercedes can offer, and those models don’t offer the choice of engines BMW gives you with this model.

A number of boxes can be checked off by this vehicle if you can afford its price. You’ll find impressive safety systems with high residual values and higher than average rear-seat legroom, and an incredibly rich level of design that is never unable to make an impression.

In numerous ways, this is the most comprehensive contender in this class, and the best part is that it’s as stunning and costly as the kind of convertible is when the sun is out and everything is perfect in the world. Sure, there are numerous ways of better spending the money necessary to purchase this type of vehicle.

2022 Tesla Model 3 Review, Pricing, and Specs

The 2022 Tesla Model 3 electric car is a great choice for those who want a vehicle with a high level of performance, range and affordable pricing. The Model 3 is fast, especially in the Performance trim.

It also has agility, making it an electric vehicle that even non-technical drivers can appreciate. The Model 3 is aimed at a broad range of customers. Its rivals include the BMW 3 Series and Audi A4, Jaguar XE, and Alfa Romeo Giulia.

    What’s New in 2022 Tesla Model 3

      • There are no significant changes in 2022
      • Part of 2017’s first Model 3 generation

The 2022 Tesla Model 3 offers the California-based automaker’s most affordable and small-sized electric car. We don’t anticipate any major changes to the Model 3 in 2022, despite a series of improvements for 2021.

What is included an updated interior, improved range, and standard features. It’s not a bad thing as the Model 3 is Edmunds’ favorite EV due to its outstanding range, strong Performance, and spacious interior.

However, Tesla isn’t the only automaker that offers compelling electric cars. The Ford Mustang Mach-E is a standout with its sporty Performance, helpful cargo area, and the all-new BMW i4 luxury sedan that happens to be an EV is a true luxury sports sedan.

The company’s early success has helped it to improve the whole package. Although the Model 3 is still a compelling sedan, it’s worth taking a look, even if there are some issues with its limited range and complicated tech.

Model and Specifecation of 2022 Tesla Model 3

Model Range Wallbox charge time Rapid charge time
    Standard Range 305 miles 8hrs (0-100%, 7.4kW) 21mins (10-80%, 170kW)
    Long Range 374 miles 11hrs 15mins (0-100%, 7.4kW) 34mins (10-80%, 190kW)
    Performance 340 miles 12hrs 15mins (0-100%, 7.4kW) 23mins (10-80%, 200kW)

Pricing and Which One to Buy

    Rear Weal Drive : $ 46, 440
    Long Range : $ 52, 440
    Performance :  $ 60, 440

Although the Rear-Wheel Drive model offers the most value, its estimated driving range of 272 miles may not be sufficient to alleviate range anxiety for all drivers.

The Long Range model offers 358 miles per charge, which we recommend. All Model 3s include heated front seats, navigation, and Tesla’s semi-autonomous Autopilot driving system.

    Performance and Range

The Model 3 comes in three versions: Standard Range Plus and Long Range. The entry-level Standard Range Plus models have a rear motor with rear-wheel drive. The other Model 3s come with dual motors and AWD.

Standard Range cars use a 54-kWh battery, but dual-motor models get an 82 kWh unit. Tesla claims that it can go from 0-60 mph in 5.3 seconds with the Standard Range Plus, 4.2 seconds with 3 seconds for Model 3 Performance.

We tested and found slightly faster numbers for Long Range and Standard Range Plus models. We expect them to remain the same as the 2021 models, even though Tesla has not announced their range numbers.

    Space and practicality:

2022 Tesla Model 3 has a spacious interior. It also features a standard-fit panoramic sunroof that doesn’t make it feel claustrophobic, even for passengers in the rear. The Model 3 flat floor provides legroom and ISOFIX child-seat mounting holes on the outer rear seats.

The 2022 Tesla Model 3 boot space is 425 Liters. However, that number does not include the extra space in the car’s ‘frunk.’ This is the area under the bonnet where an engine would normally be found. The 2022 Tesla Model 3 is 4694mm long, 1849mm in width, and 1443mm high.

    Refinement and noise levels

This subheading doesn’t apply to the Tesla Model 3. The 2022 Tesla Model 3 has virtually no noise levels. There’s very little engine noise and very little wind noise due to its small frontal area and slippery shape. You will notice a tire roar, which is less than the Model 3’s bigger-wheeled rivals.

The 2022 Tesla Model 3 amazing suite of autonomous driving aids (hands up, please) makes it a great long-distance cruiser.

Charging times: How much does it cost to charge the 2022 Tesla Model 3?

Tesla’s Supercharger network, which is fancy and fast, will provide up to 180 miles of range in just 15 minutes for the 2022 Tesla Model 3. A 7.4kW home charger will provide 30 miles per hour of range, which should be sufficient to get you to work in the morning. Filling up the battery to its full capacity will cost approximately PS10 at home.

How much does it cost to charge the 2022 Tesla Model 3?
How much does it cost to charge the 2022 Tesla Model 3?

Although you can charge your 2022 Tesla Model 3 with a standard three-pin socket, it is not recommended. It took us about an hour to increase the range by just 10 miles.

The 2022 Tesla Model 3 Standard Range Plus is officially capable of covering 278 miles without charging. The Long Range will only need power until you travel 360 miles. While the Performance can go 348 miles between charges, it’s good for 348. This is the longest range of all-electric cars currently on sale.

Running costs for a 2022 Tesla Model 3

“The Model 3 can use standard and fast-charge public chargers as well as its extensive network of superchargers.”

Although the Model 3 isn’t cheap, owning a Tesla is more realistic. The Model 3 is much cheaper than an Audi A4 or BMW 3 Series with similar Performance. It’s also not too far from a high-spec Nissan Leaf to a basic Model 3 though it becomes more expensive as you move up the range. Your running costs will be very low no matter which version you choose.

The cost of running a car will be lower than a petrol or diesel vehicle. It will all depend on where you top up, but it will still be significantly less than a regular car. Model 3 is an EV completely free from emission-based congestion zones (EBS) and VED road tax. Company car tax is 0 for 2020/21 and will rise to a negligible 2% starting in 2022.

The Model 3 can be charged with standard and fast-charge public chargers. It also has a network of superchargers that are available for rapid charging. The Model 3’s residual values should be exceptional, as it is one of the most sought-after cars in recent years. This is good news for finance and leases agreements, largely based on the car’s retained values.

    Cargo Space and Interior Room

    Cargo Space and Interior Room
    Cargo Space and Interior Room

The Model 3 is smaller than the Model Y crossover and Tesla’s larger Model S, but it still offers plenty of interior space. Although the Polestar 2 is slightly larger than the Model 3’s 15.0 cubic foot cargo space, the Tesla offers more legroom front and back.

    Cargo space (trunk+front trunk)

    •  2022 Tesla Model 3: 15.0 cubic feet
    •  2022 Polestar 2, 15.5 cubic feet

    Legroom (first/second rows)

    •  2022 Tesla Model 3: 42.7/35.2 inches
    •  2022 Polestar 2: 42.2/33.9 inches

2022 Tesla Model 3 Safety Features

    Antilock brakes

ABS brakes sense when a tire cannot rotate under extreme braking and modulate the brake pressure to allow it to turn. This improves the vehicle’s ability to turn even when braking.

    Stability control

Stability control detects when the vehicle’s handling limits are exceeded and automatically reduces engine power or applies selected brakes to prevent the driver from losing control.

    Front-impact airbags

The front-impact airbags are designed to protect the head in frontal crashes.

    Side impact airbags

Side impact airbags are designed to protect the spine in a side-impact collision.

    Overhead airbags

In a rollover or side collision, the airbags above the head protect the lead.

    Knee airbags

In an accident, knee airbags protect the occupants’ lower extremities against serious injury.

    Pretensioners

Pretensioners for seatbelts automatically tighten the belts so that the occupant is in the best possible position to avoid a collision.

    Security system

The vehicle has a way to detect and prevent unwanted vehicle intrusion. An ignition disable device is fitted to the car to stop the engine from starting if it isn’t used with the correct manufacturer key.

    Warranty and Maintenance Coverage

Although Tesla’s warranty coverage is the longest in the EV sector, it’s disappointing that it doesn’t cover corrosion protection. The Long Range model offers additional 20,000-mile coverage for its drive and battery components.

Limited Warranty: Four years or 50,000 miles

    • The warranty on powertrains is valid for eight years or 100,000 miles
    • There is no complimentary maintenance
  • 2022 Audi Q7 Premium 55 TFSI First Drive Review

2022 Audi Q7 Premium 55 TFSI First Drive Review

The 2022 Audi Q7 Premium 55 TFSI , which is the latest version the seven-seater Q7 SUV has seen, symbolizes status and elegance with its combination of panache, technology, and style.

2022 Audi Q7 Premium 55 TFSI – Design and Style

Style is an important aspect of every brand. It measures more than 5.06m long and is 2m wide. The wheelbase is five millimeters shorter than three meters. It has massive 19-inch wheels with 255/55 rubber and huge 19-inch tires. It is huge.

It’s easy to see, even if one has to walk 15 paces back. It is large and unmistakable. These new elements stand out. The new elements stand out with their aggressive front grille featuring chromed vertical slats spaced out and chromed.

They also have Matrix LED daytime and headlamps, which give it a more purposeful look. It is a well-designed car. Huge, yes. It is huge, but its neat lines and proportions make it stand out even from afar.

2022 Audi Q7 Premium 55 TFSI Performance and Fuel Economy

Base Q7 comes with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 248 horsepower and 273 lb/ft of torque. The 3.0-liter turbo six-cylinder will give you 335 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. The SQ7 boasts 500 horsepower and 568 lb-ft of torque, thanks to its twin-turbo V-8 4.0-liter.

The 2022 Audi Q7’s fuel economy should be the same as the previous model year. The 2021 Audi Q7 achieved a respectable 19/23 mpg in the city/highway and 18/23 with the six-cylinder engine. For 2021, the SQ7 was rated at a 15/21 mpg.

2022 Audi Q7 Premium 55 TFSI Cargo Space and Interior Room

2022 Audi Q7 Premium 55 TFSI – Cargo Space and Interior Room

The Audi Q7 has 14.2 cubic feet behind the third row and up to 69.6 cubes when the second and third rows are folded. The second and third rows can be folded flat to the ground. The Q7 is a good choice for passenger comfort. It beats the Volvo XC90 in legroom in the first and second rows but trails the Swede in the third row.

    Legroom (first/second/third row):

    • Q7: 41.7/38.8/29.2 Inches
    • XC90: 40.9/37.0/31.9 Inches

    2022 Audi Q7 Premium 55 TFSI – Verdict

    2022 Audi Q7 Premium 55 TFSI – Verdict

The Q7 is stepping into a sea full of highly credible competitors and the best names. Although it cannot match a BMW X7 or Mercedes GLS, or even the Volvo XC90 in luxury quotient or wow-factor, the seven-seater BMW X5, Mercedes GLE, and a bunch of Land Rovers, from the Defender and Discovery, to the Range Rover Sport, are all vying to win your Rs 80 lakh or so.

The “Technology” variant is around Rs 85 lakh (except in the showroom). This could lead to a real brawl. However, one thing is clear: the absence of a diesel engine means that most competitors have an advantage in fuel choice. Audi is a worthy contender.

    Price

    Price in INR: 4,467,600
    Price in USD: $61,200

How does it feel to drive?

It’s very competent and yet complicated. It’s not that piloting the Q7 is difficult – there are a few confusing powertrain modes. But between these power sources and Audi’s various driver assistance systems, it’s easy to be aware of the many complex processes behind the scenes.

Although the Q7 drives and accelerates with Audi’s characteristic slightly distant professionalism, it was difficult for me to control the brake pedal in a smooth manner around town.

This could be partly because I have the mechanical sympathy of a yak and partly to Audi’s Efficiency Assist’ system. It adjusts the brakes’ regenerative effort depending on your driving mode.

Is the 2022 Audi Q7 Premium 55 TFSI a safe car?

But the IIHS has rated its headlights “Poor” so that the Q7 doesn’t receive the Top Safety Pick+ award. It has not received any recent NHTSA ratings. The NHTSA gives it a point for standard emergency braking and advanced safety options. This score is 7.

WITH TRAFFIC AID, the Q7 gets standard rear side airbags and active lane control. These airbags join blind-spot monitors and rear cross-traffic alerts, as well as automatic high beams. The Q7 is one of the options. A surround-view camera system and adaptive cruise control are some of the features.

How does it handle the twisties at ten-tenths?

I’m proud to admit that I don’t know how a plug-in Q7 handles twisties at ten-tenths. I suggest you do not look into a plug-in Q7 if you are interested in learning how it handles twisties at ten-tenths.

But, I can tell that this SUV is highly refined and whispery. It’s quiet even when the V6 is running. It’s much more subtle in electric mode than any chrome-covered vehicle this large.

    Conclusion

The bulky proportions of the old-gen Audi K7 were reduced to make it more athletic and powerful on the road. Significant interior updates made the Q7 stand out from its rivals. The numerous cosmetic changes, such as a single-frame grille, revised headlamps, and tail lamps, were great successes.

The sophistication is enhanced by the numerous cosmetic updates, such as a single-frame grille and revised headlamps and tail lamps. However, I wish I had more time to enjoy a chauffeur-driven experience.

THANKS TO THE UPDATED SCREENS AND FEATURES, the Q7 is a modern, up-to-date Audi. It might prove difficult to convince Audi buyers that this full-sized SUV is only available with a petrol engine.

Its competitors, such as the Mercedes-Benz, BMW X7, and Land Rover Discovery, have a diesel option. These premium SUVs, which can seat seven people, cost Rs 1 to 1.5 crore. According to our expectations, Audi will launch the Q7 in the Rs 11.2 crore price range sometime this month.

Tata has made some changes in this new Teal Blue paint scheme. There is a body-coloured panel with Tata’s tri-arrow motif and blue highlights surrounding the front grille and bumpers with EV badges all around. These blue highlights look good on Daytona Grey paint which is the other colour option for this model.

Tata Tigor EV First Drive Review

You can bring about a dual-tone treatment which gives you a blacked-out roof and ORVMs by spending Rs 15,000. The wheels are not alloys but steel rim with plastic wheel covers. Tata Tigor EV gets projector headlamps, LED tail lamp inserts and, LED DRLs like the ICE Tigor.

The gear lever of the petrol variant is replaced by a rotary dial for drive, sport, reverse and neutral modes. A brighter backlighting for the selected mode is need to make it visible in the daytime.

Tata Tigor – Battery and Charging

The pre-facelift Tata Tigor EV renamed as Xpres-T EV has smaller batteries and 75V architecture which is suitable for commercial owners. Whereas the Tata Tigor EV has the 350V Ziptron electric fitted in Nexon EV which is suitable for individual owners. The only difference is that the size of the battery is 26 kWh while the size of Nexon EV’s 30.2 kWh. The Tigor EV which is 165 kg lighter with a less powerful motor, the ARAI range estimate is not so less than Nexon EV’s at 306 km. It gives 224 km on full charge. A range test in city and highway driving gave a range of 204 km. Depending on usage cycle, nearly 220 to 230 km seems is possible. A weatherproof and impact protected liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery pack is an advantage. The Tigor EV can charge from 0 to 80% using a 25 kW CCS2 fast charger in 65 min but it will take 8.5 hours if you use a regular three pin socket.

    Tata Tigor EV Driving

When you start the EV, it impresses you with its immediate response and a spacecraft-like buzz and the instant torque delivery of an electric motor. This motor’s 75PS and 170 Nm is enough to give you an uninterrupted, hassle-free drive on the busy city roads. The standard D mode has a limited Torque of 140 Nm.

When you switch to the Sport mode, surprisingly for a car of this price range, Tigor EV will give you 0 to 100 kmph in 13s. The Nexon EV gives a disturbed feeling on the sudden burst of torque but Tigor EV feels more natural in the sports mode. Except for some torque steer under heavy acceleration, the progress is excellent.

Tata Tigor EV Space and Seats

The space is generous and airy. The driving position is easy because of the height adjustment options. The rotary dial occupies a very little space which is a good aspect but front door pockets could have been a little smaller. The cushion with blue highlights is soft and supportive. The door elbow rests and headliner also are lined with the same material. Rear seat room in the Tigor EV is also sufficient even though battery pack lies underneath. The floor and seats offer good leg comfort, under-thigh support and easy backrest angle. There are no adjustable rear headrests.

    Safety

The Tata Tigor EV is the first EV to achieve 4 stars for both adult as well as child occupants, tested by Global NCAP, in the #SaferCarsForIndia crash test. The EV has two airbags. Both and driver and passengers have adequate safety in this vehicle.

    Verdict

Tata Tigor EV On Road Price

Tata Tigor has all the qualities of the best EV at the best affordable cost. It would be the most suitable vehicle for private owners who would travel to office or business on a daily basis. Using electric charge instead of fuels is a great aspect. You can have a very comfortable journey with your family on weekends. You can travel smoothly on highways and without jerking or jolting on local roads. The specific suspension, steering tune, low mounted battery pack, the steady and still feeling of passengers on Tata Tigor on all speeds with very little thuds , efficient-focused tyres, standard climate and well-controlled body movements are some of the advantages.

Audi S5 Sportback 2021 First Drive Review – Classic Sedan With New Cosmetics!

In India, the demand for a mid-level sporty sedan is increasing day by day. Recently, BMW launched such a model, the M340i, and now Audi has launched Audi S5 Sportback. This sports coupe with subtle S badges denote that it is not out RS5. Do you want to know the difference in design, features, specifications and driving experience? Read our review further to know it all!

Audi S5 Sportback 2021 First Drive Review

Audi S5 Sportback 2021 – Design And Style

The S5 Sportback has some standard features over a few years. The 2021 edition has some superficial changes that have brought a lively look to the car! There is a single-piece grille which really gives a mind-blowing appearance to this sedan. The grille is designed with a honeycomb pattern matte black with matte silver inserts. The air inlets have blade surrounds with matte aluminium finish. You can also opt for full black colour with black styling package and there would be no chrome and brushed aluminium finishes. The Matrix LEDs headlights come with adaptive illumination and dynamic turn signals. The tail lamps also are designed with LED.

This new version replaces the18-inch rims to 5-spoke 19-inch rims. The low-profile rubber of the old version has been replaced by 255 section Bridgestone Potenza’s with sidewall height of a 35 mm. The strong shoulder line and the fastback shape is classic and remains as a standard feature of admiration. The rear spoiler balances the fastback shape and together with the sleek LED tail lights, the quad pipes and the rear diffuser, this gives the best look to the rear part of the Audi S5 Sportback.

Audi S5 Sportback 2021 Interiors And Features

The interior side is not so attractive as the exterior. It is less showy and exciting when compared to the outside. The general layout and horizontal theme for the vents gives a very contemporary look. The high-order quality, the pleasant-touch surfaces, the matte Aluminium finished inlays at the dashboard and doors give a premium look. The scheme looks just superb but you can also opt to make it fully black. The seats have mixed shades of grey leather and Alcantara and the door pads have Alcantara surrounding the handle and switches. Its design is a balance between the A5 and the RS5.

The new 10.1-inch multimedia display with touch screen interface is the eye-catcher. It is 10 times faster than the previous interface. The display is smart and clear. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are available for smartphone connectivity. You can also access the various driving modes through the screen. The three-zone climate control can be accessed with physical buttons and knobs and you can just use it without diverting your attention from the road.

There is the Audi’s Virtual Cockpit for the driver to change different layouts for the dials, the size of the navigation screen area, and also search in the information menus. The steering is the flat bottom type with the paddle shifters not on the column but on the wheel. There are buttons to scroll through the menus and to use the phone. The switches of the cruise control are on a separate stalk. The front seats have a 4-way adjustable lumbar support. The back has sufficient knee room and there is enough room to place your legs under the driver seat unless the driver is sitting low. The back-recline angle is apt and under-thigh support is also adequate but the squab could have been a little longer. The headroom would be less for tall persons. There is an optional Bang & Olufsen 19-speaker 755 watt system to give you the fun you need while driving.

2021 Audi S5 Engine and Performance

The powertrain has not changed. The 354hp, 3.0-litre twin-scroll-turbocharged V6 and eight-speed torque-converter automatic best suits this sedan and the Quattro AWD with a 40:60 front-to-rear split for 500Nm of torque. In the dynamic mode, it has the best performance and the steering feels very light. With a loud exhaust note, the sensitive throttle inputs and the gearbox holds the gear for a longer time. The suspension feels more tight despite this particular car not having optional adaptive dampers. The suspension is more alive in the dynamic mode. There’s no launch control but you can easily achieve the claimed 4.8sec 0-100 time.

Riding Experience on the 2021 Audi S2 Sportback

The Quattro AWC defines the handling nature of the car. There is a self-locking differential which splits the torque between the front and rear in a 40 by 60 ratio. This results in rear biased handing of the car. Taking a corner, turn in is quick and could have decent amount of speed via the apex. The rear tucks in easily during exit on full throttle, even if the traction control is off. The Bridgestone Potenzas offer good grip and the breaking traction needs effort. Some squeals could be heard but otherwise, you can have an enjoyable drive. The dynamic mode is stiff and driving on uneven surface is not so difficult. But it is difficult to drive on bumps and potholes. The ground clearance has not been altered to suit the Indian roads. So you need to be careful. The comfort mode is the best for city drives. The suspension has an option of adaptive dampers.

    Verdict

The S5 Sportback is a capable and functional. It has 465-litres of luggage space and also there is enough space for four occupants to travel comfortably. It is costly but it is worth that price as it has very advanced features. It has tough competition with the BMW M340i. The Beemer is more powerful with rear-wheel drive which is the one for an enthusiastic driver. As for the S5, it is a fast car which is easy to handle and travel but makes everyone turn their eyes towards it!

Audi E Tron 55 Review 2021 – Comfort and Ease!

The Audi SUV has luxurious cabins, lot of space, unpretentious design, great ride comfort, extraordinary performance and features. Now the new Audi E-Tron is the first electric model of Audi with zero-emissions and zero driving noise. What is special in this new version? Read further to get a detailed idea of this latest EV!

Audi E Tron 55 Review with Appearance and Style

    Audi E Tron 55 Review 2021

The E-Tron 55 looks almost like Audi SUV. The brighter shades add more poise to its shape. The differences are in rear-end style of Q8, developed from the flattish rear of Q7. The Audi E-Tron is an evolution of the Q5. The Audi E-Tron features are 4,901mm length, 1,935mm width, 1,629mm tall, with a 2,928mm wheelbase, which is a sTrong aspect for this new EV.

The Audi E-Tron sits on 255/50 section 20-inches, almost like Audi Q8’s wheels and tyres. The large sidewall is a plus point to this vehicle. On brighter colour vehicles, the gloss black trim seems to give an elegant look. It is also present in the sheet metals, especially in the lower rear doors with aero elements just before the rear wheel. With these features, the Audi E-Tron becomes an impressive 0.27Cd.
The charge ports are behind the fold-out door which hold the E-Tron’s badging. The outer rear view cameras are not suitable for India. The brisky headlights and Digital Matrix LEDs are the best features.

    Audi E-Tron Interiors And Features

The Audi E-Tron has been styled similar to Q8 and facelift versions of Q7 and Q5. The dashboard is a high-tech designed structure with two digital panels for beneficial features like infotainment and climate controls. The virtual cockpit instrumentation is available. You can lower your seats to lower levels according to your preference. There is no problem with visibility from any angle when you sit in the cabin.

    Audi E-Tron Interiors

A head-up display, smart phone integration, wireless charging, four-zone climate control, Bang Olufsen 16-speaker, 705W audio system and air quality package are the important other features.

A large space is available as in Audi Q8, with a near-flat floor. The battery pack is accommodated below the floor along with the adapted ICE-platform. Rear seat comfort can be described as equivalent to Q8 with comfortable reclining angle, under thigh support and space with low window line. Boot space is 660-litres, expandable to 1,725-litres if the second row is flipped down.

2021 Audi E-Tron Performance And Charging

The top range Audi E-Tron 55 has a 95kWh battery pack with 359-484km WLTP range. The torque is 408PS and 664Nm which is very safe even when you are a bit sporty.

The Audi E-Tron facilitates immediate acceleration, without any kick down, labour or noise. You can just overtake with no effort. No road noise is felt. About 400km of driving range can been attained in the city, concluding that maybe 380-420km is possible for most people. The E-Tron has the fastest onboard charger at 11kW, which takes 11 hours for a 0-80% top-up. The wallbox charger installed for customers by Audi, at 22kW, needs just 4.5 hours for a same charge. With a 50kW public DC charger, about 0-80% top up within two hours, E-Tron’s max of 150kW charging would take a mere 30 minutes or less.

    Audi E-Tron Riding And Handling

The Audi E-Tron surprises you with its extraordinary body control. That is due to the weight being carried low down in the chassis which immensely minimises body roll and lean. The air suspension is standard and sharper joints or edges of potholes give the feel of a dull thud. The steering is just like the Audi, easily accessible but not so exciting or enthusiastic. But for people who like a comfortable travelling experience, the large E-Tron drives with great ease like Q5.

    2021 Audi E-Tron Verdict

This new version of Audi is the largest EV in India. This being said, the Mercedes-Benz EQC costs(ex-showroom) Rs 1.04 crore, Jaguar I-Pace costs(ex-showroom) from Rs 1.06-1.12 crore. The Audi E-Tron costs(ex-showroom) 1.16 Crores. For this high price, you would surely get all the aspects and comforts that large Audi SUV gives without any omissions. The added benefit is that it is electric. It has the latest adaptations of EVs, without any features missing.

    Audi e tron Specifications

    Fuel Type: Electric
    Dimensions (L x W x H): 5014 x 1079 x 1686

    Transmission: Automatic
    Maximum Power (ps): 317

Skoda Octavia New Review L&K 2.0 TSI (2021)- Best D-Segment Sedan!

Do you love sedans? The Honda City, 3 Series, 340i or Mercedes-Benz A-Class – which is your favorite? Skoda is competing in the Indian market for the last 20 years. The newest is the 4th generation Octavia! The new-generation tech, leading performance and a well-designed cabin make the Skoda Octavia the best D-Segment sedan! Read our review to get a complete idea of Skoda Octavia L&K 2.0!

Skoda Octavia Design and Style – Exterior

    Skoda Octavia New Review L&K

The new Octavia is bigger than its predecessors. The conventional and elegant design draws you towards it. The fascia has bi-LED headlamps and the sharp-looking LED fog lamps which work well. They auto-level or turn with the steering to facilitate a good cornering visibility. The large glasshouse gives excellent visibility of the outside world. The car drives on lower ground clearance but it will not affect you unless you have to drive off road. The other drawback is the 8 mm shorter wheelbase. But the new Octavia has grown longer, wider and taller than before.

The Octavia does have some features like the Audi A3 such as the platform and certain components. The perfect paint finishes, subtle chrome and sophisticated lines and classy wheel choices, all together give the Octavia a premium graceful look. There is a subtle C-motif at the taillights with the same bohemian crystal work theme as before. There is spilt taillight design and spaced Skoda lettering on the boot lid which give a wider and longer look to it.

2021 Skoda Octavia L&K 2.0 TSI Interiors, Features

The interior design is simple and minimalistic. The black and beige of Skoda has been replaced by black and grey theme which looks elegant and neat. There is a single line of switches below the infotainment and an electric-shaver-like gear selector gives a cleaner tunnel console appearance.

The easily usable virtual cockpit digital instrumentation and 10-inch infotainment screen are the plus points. VW’s new MIB3 based architecture has fast processing power. The complex graphics and animations for menus and infotainment functions are appreciable. Remarkably, the vehicle settings menu displays pictorial view of the car on which you can touch the different parts like the lights, windows, and boot with the help of which and you can fine-tune their settings.

There is one problem with the infotainment. The A/C controls, as a component of the infotainment needs you to perform multiple steps. For instance, if you would like to change the fan speed, you should look at the panel, taking your eyes off the road which is a dangerous act. We wish there would have been an automatic climate control system. The cooling efficiency of the air filtration system is good but the central A/C vents are placed at the low side and hence the cooling effect is only for the lower body and the arms but you would not get a bit of it to your face which is not a desirable aspect. Handy A/C presets are available for functions like defogging the widows and cooling your feet which is a good feature.

The car’s infotainment system has wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Mirror Link and a high-grade 12-speaker Canton audio unit in the L & K. There are multiple themes for the infotainment and instrumentation.

The seats are large and comfortable. The ventilation function is not satisfactory. Both front seats are powered and rear seats are also comfortable with bucket-seat like contouring which would make your long-distance travels easier. There is enough shoulder room and knee room for 2 adults and a kid. Low-set window line and retractable window blinds are available. The sunroof is missing.

There are dual seatback pockets and 2 roof lights at the rear. Two USB-C ports are available below the rear AC vents. Doors have large bottle holders and the front door can accommodate many other things other than the back doors. The boot space has a cargo capacity of 600-litres and cavernous 1555-litres with folded rear seats.

Engine Specifications, Performance And Driving Dynamics

2021 Skoda Octavia L&K has the familiar 2.0l TSI petrol from Superb/A4/Q2. This delivers 190 PS and 320 Nm from 10 PS and 70 Nm of the 1.8 TSI on the older Octavia. The transmission has also changed. The previous version had dry-clutch DQ200 7 speed DSG but the new one has a wet-clutch DQ381unit and shift-by-wire technology. The engine is refined and no vibrations can be felt. The engine has redlining at 6000 RPM. The TSI mill is fine for city and highway speeds.

The 7-speed gearbox is a good match to this engine. The new Octavia does not have various drive modes. There is only the S mode on the gearbox that holds revs at each gear. Nothing can be done for the suspension or steering.

    Skoda Octavia Driving Experience

The car heads fast whey you step on the throttle. The sedan has a decent low-end response and there is a mild lag before the mid-range where you would really appreciate the TSI’s performance. The acceleration is good at the mid-range and top-end of the RPM band. The vehicle is soft with the suspension setup and so you get a comfortable ride even when you have to drive on potholes and undulations. It is planted at high speeds and there are no shakes. You can feel some body roll at the corners. The steering could have been more functional with respect to communication. The disc brakes and stopping power are good.

    Safety And Service

Skoda’s after-sales service is not the best in the country but the complaints have become very less. The 2021 Skoda Octavia has safety features such as eight airbags, ESC, ABS, Multi Collision Brake, Hydraulic Brake Assist, Hill Hold Control, ASR, TPMS and Electronic Differential Lock. TPMS is only for L&K, but others are offered on both variants.

    Verdict

The Skoda Octavia has become bigger, more comfortable and more technically upgraded now. The bigger engine has higher amount of torque. It has a high quality cabin with a lot of space. It has a punchy petrol engine but no diesel engine. Excellent ride quality and stability at high speeds. It has all the latest safety features. Hyundai Elantra, Mercedes A-Class and BMW 2-Series are the rivals. The Octavia is an alternative to compact luxury cars as a family sedan.

    Skoda Octavia Specifications

    *Engine: 1984cc, 4-Cyl, Petrol

  • 2021 Tata Punch Base Model Road Test Review – The Handsome Micro SUV!

2021 Tata Punch Base Model Road Test Review – The Handsome Micro SUV!

We have been waiting for Tata Punch since a long time and finally, Tata has launched this outstanding micro SUV. It is here with its great ground clearance, attractive styling, practically styled cabin, handling balance and more, thus creating a lot of interest in our minds. It was thought to have the concepts of H2X and HBX. We thought it will be named either Rhino or Hornbill. Finally in 2021 Tata Punch has been launched, having its position between Nexon and Tiago. It will be a rival to Maruti Ignis and Mahindra KUV100 and also it will target the customers of hatchbacks like Swift! Let us discuss about the style, features, specifications and price of 2021 Tata Punch in this review!

Tata Punch Base Model Road Test Review
Tata Punch Design and Style – Exterior

The Punch is front wheel drive with perfect ground clearance. As it is based on the Altroz’s ALFARC platform, it is wide on its side. The ram air intake system increases low-end torque and the AMT version with electronics helps you at slippery roads.

The Tata Punch is shorter than the Nexon. The front part has resemblance of Harrier’s fascia and colour options are from the Harrier and Safari.

There are projector headlamps with LED DRLs and halogen fog lamps. There are also LED brake lights with halogen reverse and turn lights. The vehicle looks a bit rounded from the rear and boxy from the front view! The plastic cladding and Tata’s tri-arrow motifs give an appealing look to the Tata Punch. The rear door handles give the Punch a 3-door look. The Punch comes with appropriately sized wheels at 195/60/16 with high bonnet line. The bumpers are blackened out to avoid scratches.

    Tata Punch Interior Features

The Tata Punch has a pretty great interior design with a dual-tone colour theme. The cabin has high quality materials and consistent finish except for the usage of plastic covers for the 12V charging sockets. The layout for the buttons and controls is really a good aspect.

The Punch has the steering wheel, instrument cluster and floating touchscreen similar to that of the Altroz. In fact, the instrument cluster has a better-looking unit than the Tiagon. The 7-inch touchscreen hails from Harman. There are 4 speakers and 2 tweeters set up on the A-pillars. The doors can fit 1 tweeter each. There is extremely good quality of sound.

The Punch has sufficient space in the cabin with fabric upholstery at all places. The front seats are large sized and comfortable. You can have a good view of the path ahead and also the bonnet from the driver’s seat. The ORVMs are same as that of Nexon with comfortable seating position of the driver. There is no front centre armrest. Each door has a 1-litre bottle holder with some small storage areas. The centre area has 2 cup holders, one USB port and two 12V charging sockets.

The rear seat also is comfortable to sit with knee room exactly sufficient for 2 tall passengers with enough headroom. If 3 people would sit in the rear seat, they would be packed tightly. Headrest for the middle passenger is missing. As the floor is flat at the rear, there is a little legroom for the middle passenger. You can find two adjustable headrests at the rear and there is also a centre armrest. There are no rear AC vents. The boot capacity is 366-litres. The Punch has front and rear 90-degree opening doors.

    Tata Punch Performance

The Tata Punch has a 1.2-litre, 3-cyl, NA petrol engine that makes 86 PS of power and 113 Nm of torque. You can get a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT with this engine. Refinement levels are fine. It sounds a bit noisy from the outside but there is less noise in the cabin. There is some sound from the engine at higher RPMs. There are some vibrations but they are not bothersome.

The engine is good at outright power delivery. The vehicle moves with ease on part throttle. The low-end is good but the car feels flat at mid-range and takes more time to move up the RPM band. This does not support fast driving but it is fine for daily city usage. With claims of 0-100 km/hr time of 16.50 seconds from Tata, you could expect at least 17.09 seconds with MT and 19.13 seconds with AMT.

The 5-speed AMT is smooth but slow to shift cogs. Manual mode helps with overtakes. The 5-speed MT drivability is good with a light clutch. You can expect Punch to render about 12-13 km/l in the city and 14-15 km/l on highways. The MT has an idle start-stop feature which helps you to save fuel.

    Tata Punch Driving Experience

The Tata Punch does not give a feeling of driving a small car but is has advanced features that gives you confidence to drive on both city and open roads. The suspension setup and ride quality are great. The steering is light at low speeds which gives good feedback and also it weighs more at high speeds. Even though the steering is not precise, the Punch is confident at sudden lane changes and some tough cornering.

The off-road driving is fine at inclines, gradients, and even bed of rocks. If one of the front wheels gets stuck without traction, you can see a prompt on the infotainment screen asking permission to activate Traction Pro mode. After activating, with the brake pedal pressed, you have to accelerate the car. The other wheel having traction starts moving and finally takes the vehicle out. If you are using this mode too much, the vehicle would ask you to wait for 2 minutes to prevent over-heating.

    Safety

The safety features of Tata Punch are dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX child seat mounts and Brake Sway Control.

    Tata Puch Verdict

The handsome design, feature-loaded cabin, comfortable interior and excellent drive quality are the special features of Tata Punch! The features and functions are exceedingly well with very little to complain about. It has the correct combo of design, cabin layout and features. The only lower side is that the engine is a bit slow. People considering to buy Ignis, Swift or lower variants of the Nissan Magnite might like the Punch.

    Tata Puch Specifications

Skoda Kushaq Review – 2021 First Drive Review

Skoda Kushaq is the new SUV developed by VWG for India. As a “mid-size” SUV it is a rival to Hyundai Creta and the Kia Seltos. Let us take a closer look to see what it really has to offer in this car review! of Skoda Kushaq review from Autogos experts.

2021 Skoda Kushaq Design And Style

The Skoda Kushaq gets its name from the Sanskrit word “Kushak” meaning king. It was previously named as Vision IN. The Kushaq is easily identified by people as Skoda. The most outstanding feature is the bonnet line running along the center of the bonnet, and also there are some lines in the metal body of the car. These lines add to the premium look of this vehicle.

Skoda Kushaq Review – 2021 First Drive Review

The LED headlamps and fog lamps are good looking but, most of all, the LED tail-lamps are the ones that stand in mind. The chrome strip together with the bonnet line, the plastic lining along the lower half of the body and skid plates on both ends also adds to the classy appearance of the Skoda Kushaq. The 17-inch dual tone alloy wheels are the most attractive among the features of this new arrival of Skoda!

Skoda Kushaq Review– Interiors And Features

An ultra-modern dashboard fascinates you when you enter the cabin. It has three contrasting materials which proves it to be superior. A gloss strip running along the dash adds to the premium value. The neat and minimal layout with excellent function is the most desirable aspect of the design. There are only limited number of buttons on the central console. The European Skoda has physical buttons but the Kushaq has touch panels especially as the Indian customers like it. The touchpad works very intuitively and you should be careful to avoid brushing the panel by chance because it reacts to every touch made. You will get used to this with practice.

The Skoda Kushag offers separate compartments for phone and bottles. There is a tag holder and storage box beneath the central elbow rest. There is a 10.5-inch infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple Car play connectivity suites. There is also a wireless charger in the cubbies with two usb-type C fast charging ports at the front and back. The front seat of the Style variant is modified such that there is a ventilation function which makes the cabin more comfortable while driving in humid areas. Valet mode is a unique feature in Kushaq. This mode locks the infotainment system and also records boot and hood unlocks, door unlocks and also the number of kms driven when it is under the control of the valet. You can deactivate this with a secret 4-digit pin.

The cabin is very spacious because of the tall roofline and low floor line. There is a lot of leg room available at the back also because of the Kushaq’s extra long wheelbase. The Kushaq has very less shoulder room at the back because of the the narrow track which gives a tight feeling if three people have to travel. Two people can travel comfortably with a lot of knee and headroom for both.

Skoda Kushaq – Driving Experience – 1.0 TSI and I.5 TSI

2021 Skoda Kushaq 1.0 TSI is the available engine option, fitted with all the three variants. This three-cylinder unit has some changes but makes the same 115PS. Torque has increased by 3 Nm to 178 Nm, the rev-range is same as in Rapid. The six-speed torque converter is with greater focus on efficiency to suit the Kushaq. The Sport mode is more low. You have paddle shifters to move on the Kushaq. The tendency of this gearbox to stagger the car from moving ahead from a stop necessitates more attentiveness of the driver.

    Skoda Kushaq Mileage

When you sit in the driver seat, you will really feel the true elegance of Skoda Kushag. It has a 1.5 litre 4-cylinder TSI petrol motor with 148bhp with 250Nm of torque. Due to the taller displacement, the lag is not felt and it is easy to drive in the traffic. The long wheelbase, low floor height and narrower track makes it more graceful. The suspension is between rebound and compression and firm at quick corners but manages to keep your passengers from the effects of bumps and potholes. Even though the Kushaq has a number of complex braking systems, the feedback from the disc/drum is not satisfactory. A DCT indecision at crawling speeds occurs but fades away. The large displacement engine also delivers power in the rev-band and increases further in the sport mode. The well-calibrated cylinder-deactivation and stop-start with extra gear ratio gives more efficiency.

    Skoda Kushaq – Safety

The safety package assures complete safety to its driver and passengers. The top style trim has roll-over mitigation and electronic differential lock. There are six airbags but the rear-view camera is a lower side. There are no rear disc brakes but still the Kushaq is able to achieve desired stopping distances.

    Verdict

The Skoda has strong features, excellent performance level and all the aspects of a practical SUV. Skoda Kushaq has its base from MQB AOIN. It will overtake Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta in the market. The SUV will be sold at 1.0 L TSI and a 1.5 L TSI without any diesel trim. The smooth ride with the quieter engine without any vibrations, spacious cabin, and the modern infotainment are the prominent features of the New 2021 Skoda Kushaq.

Do you want to make this the most dynamic of the compact SUVs as your own vehicle? Drive it home soon and have a nice time with your family!

2021 Mercedes Benz GLA 220d Review – Sophisticated and Modern!

Mercedes-Benz GLA is an entry-level luxury car which is a prestigious investment to many of the Indians. The last-gen GLA gave the sales result of 10% of all Mercedes-Benz cars that was sold in India from 2014 to 2019. The debut of this second-gen model has gotten delayed in India since its global debut took place in late 2019 due to the pandemic. It is finally here now, but acquiring the 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLA 220d is a matter of choice between the high price and a genuine Mercedes experience. Read our review to get a good idea about the changes and modernizations made in this new version!

2021 Mercedes Benz GLA 220d Review

    2021 Mercedes-Benz GLA 220d Dimensions, Styling, Architecture

The revised version of Mercedes-Benz GLA shares its MFA2 front-wheel-drive architecture with new A-Class Limousine. This SUV is 14mm shorter, 30mm wider and 104mm taller compared to the outgoing GLA. Due to the 46mm increase in track widths, the GLA does not have the lanky, jacked-up hatchback look and has a proportioned stance. It has an upright cabin. There is lot of usable space inside. It looks very sophisticated but does not look like a traditional SUV, instead it is very modern and new!

The GLA 220d is styled similar to all the other Mercedes SUVs. The LED headlamps makes it look like a member of the Mercedes family with the concave grille, the large Mercedes Logo, dotted with chrome on the top AMG Line version and wide air dam are all the traits of Mercedes. More restrained bodywork can be seen with simple surfaces and minimal cuts. The rear-end has a wide two-part LED taillamps with sharp sill below the rear windscreen.

The GLA 220d 4Matic has the richness you would like to have from other Mercedes and the AMG Line design pack. The straked bumper elements, the subtle chrome accents and the faux exhausts and vents at the rear increase its ambience. The unique 19-inch AMG wheels in gunmetal grey give a special look to the GLA.

    2021 Mercedes-Benz GLA 220d, 220d 4Matic Interiors, Features

The GLA follows the Mercedes tradition but at the same time, the new changes in the interiors are marvelous. Mercedes-Benz has recreated much of the luxury of other cars in this version. The layout is highlighted with a pair of 10.25-inch MBUX screens with crisp graphics with voice assistance and easy functionality. The centre stack is wide, holding a touchpad and toggle switches with tasteful ambient lightings. The tubular air vents give damped and tactile feel like the other cars of this brand. Also, the controls and switchgear are similar to other versions.

Many of these features are also present in the new A-Class along with some other new distinct features. The layered dash layout found in the A-Class has been replaced with a flat surface with a contrasting panel on the side of the passenger seat. Tubular design is also different for the door handles with a cold stainless steel finish.

On the lower side, the piano-style switches should have been less plasticky and also the footwell is missing the softness.

    2021 Mercedes-Benz GLA 220d

The Mercedes-Benz GLA 220d AMG Line has an all-black theme with brushed aluminium highlights, contrasting stitching, well-placed suede patches and a flat bottomed steering wheel. It is a traditional luxury car with textured wood and beige which adds to the spacious look. The large dual-pane sunroof is a bit taking us astray from the AMG Line feel. There are large storage spaces, especially at the centre console with a wireless charging pad and under the armrest. The supportive and fully powered front seats are too stiffly padded. There are some seat kinetic features which are the mostly liked by the admirers of GLE. You can make minor adjustments to the seatback and base to avoid feeling stiff during and after a long journey.

A 30mm longer wheelbase has freed up about 114mm of rear legroom. Elbow room and shoulder room are a bit tight fit. The bulged door cards make ingress/egress a bit difficult. Another good thing about this car is that even tall passengers could have comfortable drive with a lot of legroom in the front seats. The under-thigh support and softness of the cushioning could have been a bit more better A separate climate zone would have been preferable, a two-zone climate control on offer is present, otherwise.

Mercedes-Benz GLA 220d Engine, Gearbox, Performance

The 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLA 220d and 220d 4Matic have the same engine-gearbox combinations of the A-Class Limousine. The 1.3-litre turbo of the petrol is co-designed with Renault-Nissan and it makes 165PS and 250 Nm with seven-speed DCT. The diesel is OM654 unit with higher 190PS and 400 Nm tune. The diesel paired with the AWD system on the top-spec GLA 220d 4Matic has an extraordinary performance when compared to the detuned A-Class. Mild vibrations at the pedals are felt in the first two gears which are not felt in isolation. Some diesel clatter also is felt in the cabin at low revs. If you get over these, an undiesel-like growl past 3,500 rpm is felt.

    Mercedes-Benz GLA 220d Engine

You will get a calm feeling in your daily driving process as revs are kept well below 2,000rpm with the eight-speed DCT. A surge of torque happens but by switching to the sport mode, the motor gets rid of this character easily. The gearbox holds revs longer such that you have powerband to handle. The engine brake may be quite aggressive and put you in to trouble on downshifts. The paddle shifters gives you extra control if you need

One among the areas that need improvement is that the DCT which holds downshifts more longer than needed in the Eco and Comfort modes which makes slowing down a bit tough. Shifts in the lower gears become uncomfortable and jerky at times. The OM 654 is the top performer in terms of fuel efficiency tests. It has a combined fuel efficiency of 14.72 kmpl for FWD and 14.32 kmpl for AWD. This is the reason for the high pricing of GLA.

    2021 Mercedes-Benz GLA 220d, 220d 4Matic Riding Experience

With a very functional motor, the Mercedes GLA moves with ease. The 4Matic AWD has only 20% torque go to the rear wheels which increases 30% in the Sport mode. This assistance is not needed for regular driving but helps when you need grip in situations like accelerating or going through a twisty turn.

The large tyre sizes and well-judged suspension helps it to handle the ups and downs in the highway very easily as it has over 180mm of ground clearance. As for regular city use, the GLA feels a bit stiff on bad patches of road and thuds are audible over bumps and potholes because of the 50-profile tyres on the AMG Line version. But the 18-inch wheels soften the rough edges. The 4Matic version has an off-road mode that splits torque 50:50 between the two axles. We suggest that it is best not to try the off-road mode because of the low profile wheel and tyre combination and the crossover shape.

    2021 Mercedes-Benz GLA 220d, 220d 4Matic Safety

The India-spec has an active braking function with the brake assist function which is already present in the other Mercedes cars. The safety features include seven airbags one of them being a knee bag, a bonnet that pops up for the protection of the pedestrians, pre-safe system and TPMS. The AWD version, additionally, hill-descent control is available. All these features make it a completely safe vehicle to drive.

    2021 Mercedes-Benz GLA 220d, 220d 4Matic Verdict

Mercedes-Benz GLA is costlier than rivals like BMW X1 and Volvo XC40. The high pricing is reasonable for all its special features. 4Matic diesel is nearly Rs 50 lakh but that is for the comfort we get while traveling in it. Even though the experience of a more pliant ride and aggressive look is missing, the capable diesel drivetrain and the best interior features make the GLA a complete Mercedes SUV at a reasonable price.
