Comfortable interior, pleasant driving manner, unoffensive outward design

Chevrolet Malibu

$24,495

Overview

Not as well-equipped as its competitors, has a crude auto/start stop mechanism, and most models inside feel and look cheap.

What's New

The base L trim is no longer available. Other than that, the Malibu remains largely unchanged in 2022.

Engine

A reliable 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 163 horsepower powers the majority of Malibu variants.

Performance

When we tested the vehicle with the new CVT, we obtained a completely average zero-to-60-mph time of 7.8 seconds.

Fuel Economy

Our 75 mph highway fuel-economy route resulted in a decent 34 mpg from the 1.5-liter turbocharged engine.

Interior

Although the interior offers comparable passenger options and room, the majority of competitors provide superior external visibility.

VERDICT

The Chevy Malibu is a good option for a rental counter, but if you're playing for keeps, check out one of its competitors.
