What's New

All models now include a faux-leather dashboard cover, and the options list now includes a Parking Assistance package.

Engine

A 255-hp 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine powers models with the designation 430i.

Performance

A smooth-running 3.0-liter inline-six turbocharged engine that receives assistance from a 48-volt hybrid system to produce 382-hp powers the M440i.

Fuel Economy

The 22 mpg city and 31 mpg highway rating for the six-cylinder M440i.

Interior

Unless they are in the back seat, buyers might not notice much of a difference between the cabins of the 4-series and the 3-series.

Infotainment

The 8.8-inch and 10.3-inch infotainment screens in the 2023 4-series are identical to those in the 3-series sedan.

VERDICT

The 4-series coupe and convertible are swift and well-made, but they lack the road manners that make BMW the ultimate driving machine.
