2023 Polestar 3 is showing more and more details about its next model, called the 3. It’s being described as an aerodynamic SUV (or electric performance SUV) and will be the company’s largest model when it launches in October 2022.

2023 Polestar 3 : Range, Battery, and Charging

As Polestar has kept many details – including battery size and charging times – we are beginning to see a pattern. According to early estimates, we have received word that the Polestar 3 will offer 372 miles of WLTP range.

WLTP is the European testing cycle and produces a wider range of figures than those from the EPA. Because it varies, it is impossible to predict how big a difference will be. It was rumored that the Polestar 3 might have 310 miles range. So expect something in that area.

The 78kWh battery that powers the dual motor Polestar 2 has a respectable range of 245 miles. The BMW iX reported 257 miles and Tesla’s Model X a staggering 348 miles. If accurate, it is still quite achievable.

According to Polestar, the Polestar 2 can charge in as little as 40 minutes at a 120kW rapid charger station. We are hoping for a faster-charging speed increase, considering that many upcoming cars can run up to 350 kW.

2023 Polestar 3: Performance and Power

The Polestar 3 will offer both single- and dual-motor powertrains, with the former offering all-wheel drive. Although nothing concrete has been confirmed, the Polestar 3 will need to achieve a 0-60 MPH time of 4-5 seconds if it wants to be competitive with its closest performance rivals.

The Polestar 3 is larger and heavier than its crossover counterpart. This means that the new EV’s battery pack may have to be closer to Tesla’s 100kWh to transfer all that weight.

They have every chance of achieving it. Polestar was originally a racing brand. The small-batch Polestar 1 had the longest electric-only range hybrids when it was released.

How Does 2023 Polestar 3 compare to other Electric Crossovers?

Although the SUV will be launched alongside the Volvo XC40 Recharge model, Polestar’s brand identity stands out more than that of its sister-brand Volvo. The Tesla Model Y, Model X, and Audi e-Tron will be its direct competitors.

It could also face stiff competition from the all-electric Porsche Macan. Polestar stated that the new Volvo 3 would be a more expensive and luxurious SUV than its all-electric counterpart, the Volvo XC90. Both vehicles share the same platform. The Polestar 3 will use exclusive powertrains that aren’t available on the next XC90. The Polestar’s powertrain is unique.

It will require a range of at least 350 miles per charge to compete with the other vehicles. The 3 won’t be equipped with the Kia EV6 or the Hyundai Ioniq 5, which can charge 800 volts. We expect more surprises when the Polestar 3 arrives.
